Within the last forty years, scientific discoveries and knowledge about our universe contain unprecedented theological implications. They imply that the creator exists, more so than ever before. These discoveries have developed a worldview that challenges both theologians and scientists to engage in a mutually fruitful dialogue. From Creation to Re-Creation uniquely presents God’s accomplishments as author Daniel Lazich transports himself to a time when authors wrote creation narratives to depict the contrast between the ancient epics and biblical narrative. It forcefully asserts that the creation of this world and humankind was accomplished by the Creator, who loves humanity selflessly. This assertion is backed by the most advanced study and research concerning our universe’s nature. Lazich writes that the final observer in quantum cosmology and God in the Bible are the same. From Creation to Re-Creation employs unprecedented theological implications to assert that the creator’s existence is necessary for the universe and humankind in it to exist.

This book sets out to interpret Henri de Lubac's theology of creation from a christological perspective. The challenge of this research has been the absence of a systematic christology in the writings of de Lubac. Yet it is possible to posit a Lubacian christology by sifting through the author's work on a myriad of subjects. The point of entry is the patristic distinction between 'image' and 'likeness', whereby 'image' is understood as an inamissible seal which bestows the divine prerogatives of reason, freedom, immortality and dominion over nature. 'Likeness' is a potential given at creation and realised in the course of the economy of salvation. De Lubac describes it variously as divinisation, divine union, the supernatural dignity of the human being, and participation in the internal movement of the Trinity. The originality of this book consists in the gradual emergence of the role of Christ in the process whereby image becomes likeness. De Lubac records his intention to publish a book on Jesus Christ, an ambition he never realised. The present book does not just illustrate the omnipresence of Christ in the writings of de Lubac but dares to delineate what a Lubacian christology would look like.

Christ of the Creation Days by Greg Girard I have long been fascinated by the great types of Scripture: not clever connections invented by over ingenious preachers, but the patterns that underlie the way God repeatedly works both in the people and the events of the Bible. Some of them are quite explicit. Others you dont see till they are pointed out to you, and then you wonder how you could have missed them. The more we see one part of Scripture underlining another, in what I think of as the repeat of patterns, the greater its integrity is seen to be, and the clearer its message. Greg Girard opens our eyes to a set of correspondences that could not be more basic to the biblical revelation of God. Should it surprise us that the sequence of his creative action in the making of the world should be the same shape as the sequence of his redemptive action in revealing himself to his people? Yet I for one had never made the connection. The creation of light, the separation of land and sea, the stars of heaven, the man appointed to rule all that lives-of course these images reappear elsewhere; but had you noticed where, and at what crucial points in the Bible story? The author deserves our thanks for this illuminating and inspiring study. Michael Wilcock [author of five titles in the Bible Speaks Today series (InterVarsity Press), and other books of Bible exposition]

In Healing All Creation, a scripture scholar and a religion journalist explore the literary and theological symmetries of Genesis, the Gospel of Mark and the unfolding story of evolution, as told by science and the emerging discipline of cosmological theology. Read together, these narratives shed new light on the Judeo-Christian tradition and offer fresh ideas about how to respond to the moral and environmental crises of our times. Scientific discoveries make it increasingly clear that everything in the world is connected. Physically and spiritually, small actions can have great impact: In the creation myths of Genesis, it is possible for individuals to generate great evil, but also do enormous good and repair a broken world. Mark’s story of the public life of Jesus speaks to the transformative effect of cumulative acts of compassion. Cosmological theology suggests that evolution is spiritual as well as material, and that our search for meaning is dynamic, ongoing and grounded in the sanctity of all creation. This book speaks to those for whom Judeo-Christian scripture is important, but also to those who consider themselves spiritual but not religious: those who stand in awe of the majesty of the universe and appreciate the sanctity of all creation. It introduces to a general audience a century-long dialogue among scientists, theologians, scripture scholars and summons the voices of 20th century spiritual heroes, contemporary theologians and religion scholars from a variety of traditions and perspectives. This accessible but scholarly narrative and robust endnotes make it valuable as a textbook for college-level courses on religion and ecology. The authors offer fresh insights into Mark’s story of the healing ministry of Jesus and his relationships with women, including his crushing final encounter with the women who stayed with him to the end and the transformative mission it inspired. It raises questions about the gender inequity that persists in organized religion and in the world at large. This book examines institutional Christianity’s historical failures such as the early abandonment of nonviolence and its tendency to question the validity of scientific discoveries. It explores the impact of dispensational theology, whose vision of a material world ending in fiery apocalypse produced Christians so focused on the end-times that they have scant regard for the sanctity of the Earth. It has been said that the Bible is the most-purchased and least-read book in America. This accessible narrative introduces a diverse general audience to the riches of contemporary scripture scholarship, the wisdom of cosmological theology and a renewed awareness of the sanctity of all creation.
