New Creation Ecology is a heart appeal to fellow Christians to consider environmental stewardship as a vital part of their relationship to their Creator, Jesus Christ. The new birth is the vital link to knowing his presence spiritually as well as by asking the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, the earth, and the fish of the sea where he enjoys the expression of his own nature and desires to share in the wonder of it all with the crown of his creation-man. Recommendation: I think New Creation Ecology is a worthy contribution to an otherwise neglected subject. I like the perspective of personal and passionate advocacy from a biblical perspective. May the Lord use it to stir Christians to a more mindful and conscientious stewardship of God's beautiful garden! Pastor Craig Harris, Grace Baptist Church, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Tom's work sets the Christian on a course for a God-honoring care of nature, for love of its Creator, and a desire for His glory through biblical stewardship. I commend Tom's work, and all his efforts, to call all of us to a biblical stewardship of our Father's world. Jeff Garner, Administrator, Providence Christian Academy, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. I highly recommend Tom's book, New Creation Ecology, which is a study of the Christian witness to God's creation. Tom's autobiographical approach makes this book personal as well as biblical and theological. His stories and descriptions of the natural world invite the reader into the forests, streams and mountains that he explores. His passion for stewardship of God's world is evident throughout. As an avid lover of God's creation, I will be giving this book to my children and grandchildren to further inspire their love of God the Creator. C. Kenneth Shannon, Ph.D.

How does Christianity change the way we view the natural world? In this addition to a critically acclaimed series, renowned theologian Norman Wirzba engages philosophers, environmentalists, and cultural critics to show how the modern concept of nature has been deeply problematic. He explains that understanding the world as creation rather than as nature or the environment makes possible an imagination shaped by practices of responsibility and gratitude, which can help bring healing to our lands and communities. By learning to give thanks for creation as God's gift of life, Christians bear witness to the divine love that is reconciling all things to God. It is generally assumed that science and religion are at war. Many now claim that science has made religious belief redundant; others have turned to a literalist interpretation of biblical creation to reject or revise science; others try to resolve Darwin with Genesis. "The Nature of Creation" addresses this complex debate by engaging with both modern science and biblical scholarship together. Creation is central to Christian theology and the Bible, and has become the chosen battleground for scientists, atheists and creationists alike. "The Nature of Creation" presents a sustained historical investigation of what the creation texts of the Bible have to say and how this relates to modern scientific ideas of beginnings. The book aims to demonstrate what science and religion can share, and how they differ and ought to differ.

The biblical themes of creation and new creation are inextricably bound to each other. For the God who created the world is the same God who recreates humanity in Jesus Christ and the same God who promises a new heaven and a new earth. How might the relationship between creation and new creation be informed by and reflected in the arts? This volume, based on the DITA10 conference at Duke Divinity School, brings together reflections from theologians, biblical scholars, and artists to offer insights on God's first work, God's future work, and the future of the field of theology and the arts. The Studies in Theology and the Arts series encourages Christians to thoughtfully engage with the relationship between their faith and artistic expression, with contributions from both theologians and artists on a range of artistic media including visual art, music, poetry, literature, film, and more.

What would biology look like if it took the problem of natural evil seriously? This book argues that biological descriptions of evolution are inherently moral, just as the biblical story of creation has biological implications. A complete account of evolution will therefore require theological input. The Dome of Eden does not try to harmonize evolution and creation. Harmonizers typically begin with Darwinism and then try to add just enough religion to make evolution more palatable, or they begin with Genesis and pry open the creation account just wide enough to let in a little bit of evolution. By contrast, Stephen Webb provides a theory of how evolution and theology fit together, and he argues that this kind of theory is required by the internal demands of both theology and biology. The Dome of Eden also develops a theological account of evolution that is distinct from the intelligent design movement. Webb shows how intelligent design properly discerns the inescapable dimension of purpose in nature but, like Darwinism itself, fails to make sense of the problem of natural evil. Finally, this book draws on the work of Karl Barth to advance a new reading of the Genesis narrative and the theology of Duns Scotus to provide the necessary metaphysical foundation for evolutionary thought.
