Right or Reconciled? Reconciliation is more than a teaching for Pastor Joseph Garlingtonit is a life message. In this hard-hitting and thought-provoking book, Pastor Garlington emphasizes the need of the Church to be about Gods business of reconciling the world to Him. The message of reconciliation that the Church must declare is simple yet profound: God is not holding your sins against you! With this in mind, Joseph then focuses on more practical reconciliation issues and asks the question, Do you want to be right or reconciled? Your answer to this question will determine whether or not God can use you in the ministry of reconciliation. Pastor Garlington is at the forefront of modern reconciliation issues whether he is pastoring his church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, or speaking at Promise Keepers rallies. If you are concerned about racial, gender, or denominational reconciliation, then this book is for you. And once you read it, you wont ever see reconciliation in the same light again.

Our world is broken and cries out for reconciliation. But mere conflict resolution and peacemaking are not enough. What makes real reconciliation possible? How is it that some people are able to forgive the most horrendous of evils? And what role does God play in these stories? Does reconciliation make any sense apart from the biblical story of redemption? Secular models of peacemaking are insufficient. And the church has not always fulfilled its call to be agents of reconciliation in the world. In Reconciling All Things Emmanuel Katongole and Chris Rice, codirectors of the Center for Reconciliation at Duke Divinity School, cast a comprehensive vision for reconciliation that is biblical, transformative, holistic and global. They draw on the resources of the Christian story, including their own individual experiences in Uganda and Mississippi, to bring solid, theological reflection to bear on the work of reconciling individuals, groups and societies. They recover distinctively Christian practices that will help the church be both a sign and an agent of God's reconciling love in the fragmented world of the twenty-first century. This powerful, concise book lays the philosophical foundations for the Resources for Reconciliation, a new series from InterVarsity Press and the Center for Reconciliation at Duke Divinity School which explores what it means to pursue hope in areas of brokenness in theory and practice.

Aspects Of The Atonement written by I. Howard Marshall and has been published by Paternoster Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Religion categories.

The Christian understanding of the meaning of the death of Jesus Christ and its relationship to the salvation of sinful humanity is currently the subject of intense debate and criticism. In this volume Professor I. Howard Marshall discusses the nature of the human plight in relation to the judgment of God and then offers a nuanced defence of the doctrine of substitutionary death of Jesus Christ for sinners. Professor Marshall shows that the resurrection of Christ, and not simply his death, is an integral part of the process whereby sinners are put in the right with God. In the final chapter is argued that in our communication of the gospel today the New Testament concept of reconciliation may be the most comprehensive and apt expression of the lasting significance of the lasting significance of Christ--from back cover.

The Doctrine Of Reconciliation written by Arthur W. Pink and has been published by Sovereign Grace Publishers, this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-05 with Religion categories.

Arthur W. Pink (1890-1953) launched his yearly publication, Studies in the Scriptures in 1921. These continued until his death, altogether 33 volumes of 288 pp. each. Most of Pink's books are taken from these yearly books (written monthly in 24 page format). This title is one of the many taken from eight of those monthly magazines. Readers will find thorough consideration of all the facets of this Biblical Doctrine of Reconciliation. Pink covers: Its Arrangement; Its Need, Its Effectuation; Its Meaning; Its Scope; and Its Reception. There are Scriptures galore cited. Undoubtedly the reader will grow rich in knowledge and in the grace of Christ. The pages are full, with probably 400 words to a page, so buyers will get their moneys worth. As an example of what a master workman like Pink does, note that he cites Romans 12:1, 2: [This verse] ''supplies an interpretation of the rites of the Law and of the reasonable part of the O. T. order of things. Thus, he who would make a covenant with God is required to give up himself wholly unto God with a sincere and firm resolution unto a new life of obedience to Him. If there is any reservation the covenant is marred in the making of it: ''Their heart was not right with Him, neither were they steadfast in His covenant'' (Ps. 78:37). Goodwin's Reconciliation by the Blood of Christ is a sermon he preached on Colossians 1:20, in which He describes the seeming impossibility of reconciling totally depraved men to a holy God. Who is sufficient for such a task? He proves that only Christ Jesus had the fitness to fill this role of perfect obedience to the Law, together with an acceptable sacrifice to propitiate the wrath of God toward men.

Completing Christ S Afflictions written by Bruce T. Clark and has been published by Mohr Siebeck this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-02-25 with Religion categories.

What is the relationship between the preeminent, cosmos-reconciling 'Christ' of Col 1:15-20 and the imprisoned 'Paul' of 1:24-29, who enigmatically 'completes' the former's afflictions as he declares to 'every person' the mystery, long concealed but only now revealed by Israel's God to his holy ones? After finding solid exegetical ground through an unprecedented and exhaustive study of the rare verb antanapleroo (in 1.24), Bruce Clark tackles this most intriguing, if challenging question. He argues that Col 1, in accord with 2 Cor 5:18-6:4, presents Paul as the utterly unique diakonos ('minister') of the universal ekklesia and, therefore, as one whose afflictions uniquely complete Christ's own, so that together, revealing the righteousness of God, they initiate the divine reconciliation of 'all things.'

God moves first with grace and comes to us in Christ to reconcile us to himself. He transforms us and accepts us into the covenant relationship. God clothes us, like the prodigal son, in the robe of righteousness and gives us a place in his family. The heart of the gospel is Jesus Christ, through whom God came to us and became human yet sinless, to restore true humanity in us. In Christ, we are a new creation, reconciled with God and with each other as God's own people, saved from being self-centered. Thus, Augsburger says, reconciliation surely has a social effect.God's self-disclosure reaches its full expression in Jesus Christ, who is our Savior, Lord, Mentor, Intercessor, and Reconciler. We become a new community of disciples living in solidarity with Jesus. Salvation and ethics flow from our relation to Jesus; we identify with Jesus, to live by God's will. The gospel makes love possible. The church needs a new sense of the global and situational nature of God's reign, sharing God's grace personally with all peoples, to enable them to live with equity, justice, and mutuality. This book holds together the evangelistic and social dimensions of reconciliation as the core of the gospel. 264 Pages.
