An Academy Award–nominated screenwriter and a mystery novelist, Roger L. Simon is the only American writer to pull off the amazing trick of being profiled positively in both Mother Jones and National Review in one lifetime. The stunning story of his political odyssey is told in this memoir, where Simon recounts his migration from financier of the Black Panther Breakfast Program to pioneer blogosphere mogul beloved by the right as a 9/11 Democrat. But Simon is beholden to neither right nor left in this tale of Hollywood chic run amuck, as he talks out of school about his adventures with, among many others, Richard Pryor, Warren Beatty, Timothy Leary, Richard Dreyfuss, Woody Allen, and Julian Semyonov, the Soviet Union’s version of Robert Ludlum and also a KGB colonel who tempted Simon to join the KGB himself. Among the topics covered along the way: Is there a new blacklist in Hollywood, this one targeting conservatives? Simon’s red-carpet tours of the People’s Republic of China, Cuba, and the Soviet Union with Hollywood screenwriters and famous mystery novelists. Why Al Gore’s documentary on global warming didn’t deserve the Oscar on artistic grounds alone; and why the Academy’s voting system is so corrupt. And, as they say, there is much, much more besides.

Turning Right In The Sixties written by Mary C. Brennan and has been published by Univ of North Carolina Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Political Science categories.

In Turning Right in the Sixties, Mary Brennan describes how conservative Americans from a variety of backgrounds, feeling disfranchised and ignored, joined forces to make their voices heard and by 1968 had gained enough power within the party to play the decisive role in determining who would be chosen as the presidential nominee. Building on Barry Goldwater's shortlived bid for the presidential nomination in 1960, Republican conservatives forged new coalitions, aided by an increasingly vocal conservative press, and began to organize at the grassroots level. Their goal was to nominate a conservative in the next election, and eventually they gained enough support to guarantee Goldwater the nomination in 1964. Liberal Republicans, as Brennan demonstrates, failed to stop this swing to the right. Brennan argues that Goldwater's loss to Lyndon Johnson in the general election has obscured the more significant fact that conservatives had wrestled control of the Republican Party from the moderates who had dominated it for years. The lessons conservatives learned in that campaign aided them in 1968 when they were able to force Richard Nixon to cast himself as a conservative candidate, says Brennan, and also laid the groundwork for Ronald Reagan's presidential victory in 1980.

Right Turn written by Raymond Wolters and has been published by Transaction Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1996-01-01 with Law categories.

Raymond Wolters maintains that Ronald Reagan and William Bradford Reynolds made the "right turn" when they questioned and limited the use of racial considerations in drawing electoral boundaries. He also documents the Reagan administration's considerable success in reinforcing within the country, and reviving within the judiciary, the conviction that every person - black or white - should be considered an individual with unique talents and inalienable rights. This book begins with a biographical chapter on William Bradford Reynolds, the Assistant Attorney General who was the principal architect of Reagan's civil rights policies. It then analyzes three main civil rights issues: voting rights, affirmative action, and school desegregation. Wolters describes specific cases: at-large elections and minority vote dilutions; congressional districting in New Orleans; legislative districting in North Carolina; the debates over the Civil Rights Act of 1964; social science critiques of affirmative action; the question of quotas; and school desegregation and forced busing. Because Ronald Reagan and William Bradford Reynolds were men of the right, and because most journalists and historians are on the left, Wolters feels the "people of words" have dealt harshly with the Reagan administration. In writing this book, he hopes to correct the record on a subject that has been badly represented.

Ideologically divided and disorganized in 1960, the conservative wing of the Republican Party appeared to many to be virtually obsolete. However, over the course of that decade, the Right reinvented itself and gained control of the party. In Turning Right in the Sixties, Mary Brennan describes how conservative Americans from a variety of backgrounds, feeling disfranchised and ignored, joined forces to make their voices heard and by 1968 had gained enough power within the party to play the decisive role in determining the presidential nominee. Building on Barry Goldwater's short-lived bid for the presidential nomination in 1960, Republican conservatives forged new coalitions, began to organize at the grassroots level, and gained enough support to guarantee Goldwater the nomination in 1964. Brennan argues that Goldwater's loss to Lyndon Johnson in the general election has obscured the more significant fact that conservatives had wrested control of the Republican Party from the moderates who had dominated it for years. The lessons conservatives learned in that campaign, she says, aided them in 1968 and laid the groundwork for Ronald Reagan's presidential victory in 1980.

Why not go with the flow? Why not take the easy road? Why not keep on one side to be safe? In The Narrow Road, the author challenges readers to choose the path he describes as a mountain ridge with ravines on both sides. The way is narrow, difficult and perilous, but it leads to life. “In today’s confusing world, we find ourselves torn in different directions: hearing different teachings on all sides and uncertain which to follow; aware of the dangers of extremes but unsure what the middle course might look like. In The Narrow Road, David Wong offers sensible and biblically-based guidance, drawing on years of pastoral experience and teaching. There are no quick fixes or ‘magic bullets’ here, but much truth to reflect on.” — Dr Philip Satterthwaite Principal, Biblical Graduate School of Theology (BGST)

Nibila’s Testimony! I absolutely know the power of the name Jesus! I began to call on Jesus early on in my youth. Having parents who love you unconditionally was God’s first manifestation to me and what I will cherish the most from him. My journey to a deeper relationship evolved much later in my fifties. The twists and left turns began once I became a woman in my early teens. It was then I began to navigate through life ignoring the GPS (God’s perfect solutions) for my life. It was Jesus who kept me and that still small voice who guided me time and time again out of my detours, roadblocks, potholes, fender benders, and the head-on collisions that I willingly drove right into before giving Jesus full control of me. God’s love, mercy, and amazing grace continue to manifest in my life today. Jesus continues turning me right and keeping me straight and focused on his love, which is for all who believe in Christ Jesus.
