Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra nació en Alcalá de Henares en 1547. Fue novelista, dramaturgo, y poeta; considerado por muchos como el más grande escritor de la lengua española de todos los tiempos. Don Quijote de la Mancha es su obra más conocida la cual ha trascendido naciones, culturas, idiomas y épocas; sin embargo otras como Viaje del Parnaso son parte de su trabajo literario que muchos no conocen, sobre todo las nuevas generaciones. Esta obra de Cervantes es en sí una pieza narrativa en verso publicada en el año 1614 y escrita en tercetos, unos sueltos junto a otros encadenados, y que nos cuenta el viaje hacia el Monte Parnaso, donde tiene lugar la lucha entre poetas buenos y malos, venciendo los primeros; pero como veremos aquí lo más importante, si prestamos atención, es el regreso desde allá a la tierra patria, ya en una vejez bien aceptada y en paz consigo mismo, donde el escritor quiere dejar sellado su trabajo y parecer en cuanto a esos falsos poetas y literatos, además de lo que ocurría en la sociedad; motivo por el cual se tituló desde un comienzo Viaje del Parnaso, y no al Parnaso.
