This volume discusses the authenticity of the seven letters, handed down under the name of Ignatius of Antioch, and explores the wider theological context at the time of their composition. The author first examines the chronological foundations of current scholarly consensus, which on the whole favours an early second-century date for the composition of these letters, during the reign of the emperor Trajan (98-117). On the basis of his findings the author next addresses the question raised by the title of the volume: do some of the polemic passages in these letters specifically attack Valentinian gnosis? After a detailed discussion of chapters 16-20 of the Letter to the Ephesians it is shown that the Ignatian Star Hymn (Eph. 19) should be seen as a parody of Valentinian myth. The volume concludes with a study of the Regula fidei (Eph. 18,2).

For many years, Professor Joel Delobel has served as a member of the Department of Biblical Studies of the Faculty of Theology, K.U. Leuven (1969-2001). His research has tended to focus on Luke-Acts, Pauline Literature and especially Textual Criticism (he is a member of Das Institut fur Neutestamentliche Textforschung, Munster). His friends and colleagues in the Department of Biblical Studies of the Faculty of Theology and elsewhere have honoured him with a Festschrift on the occasion of his retirement. The congratulatory volume deals with an issue that is dear to him: the mutual link between textual criticism and exegesis, which he himself once referred to as the 'Siamese twins'. Bei den vertrags(zahn)ärztlichen Schiedsämtern nach § 89 SGB V handelt es sich um zentrale Institutionen der gemeinsamen Selbstverwaltung der Ärzte, Zahnärzte und Krankenkassen. Ihnen obliegt die Festsetzung von Verträgen über die vertrags(zahn)ärztliche Versorgung nach § 72 Abs. 2 SGB V, wenn sich die jeweiligen Vertragspartner nicht auf dem Verhandlungswege einigen. Wolfgang Schmiedl stellt in der vorliegenden Abhandlung das Recht des vertrags(zahn)ärztlichen Schiedswesens in seinen einzelnen Teilaspekten dar. Die Ausführungen gliedern sich dabei in vier große Themenkomplexe: die historische Entwicklung, die Rechtsnatur, die Anforderungen an die Tätigkeit und die Kontrolle der Entscheidungen der Schiedsämter nach § 89 SGB V.Nach einem Abriss der über 80jährigen Geschichte der Schiedsämter untersucht der Autor deren Rechtsnatur. Es wird dabei deren umfassende Behördeneigenschaft in verfahrens- und organisationsrechtlicher Hinsicht untermauert. Im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit stehen jedoch die praxisrelevanten Aspekte der Schiedsamtstätigkeit. Breiten Raum nehmen hier Ausführungen zum Verfahren ein. Ein besonderes Augenmerk wird ferner auf die materiellrechtlichen Anforderungen bei der Vertragsfestsetzung gelegt. Im Hinblick auf vergütungsregelnde Verträge werden dabei die Regelungsvorgaben der Angemessenheit der Vergütung der vertrags(zahn)ärztlichen Leistungen und der Beitragssatzstabilität konkretisiert und deren Beziehung zueinander untersucht. Der Autor kommt dabei zu dem Ergebnis, dass aufgrund verfassungsrechtlicher Vorgaben auch in Zeiten der Budgetierung kein Vorrang des Grundsatzes der Beitragssatzstabilität vor jenem der Angemessenheit der Vergütung besteht.Ausführungen zur Kontrolle der Tätigkeit der Schiedsämter runden die Arbeit ab. Dabei werden die Staatsaufsicht über die Schiedsämter und Möglichkeiten des Rechtsschutzes gegen Schiedsentscheidungen dargestellt.
