Die historische Narratolgie hat in den letzten Jahren zunehmend an Relevanz gewonnen. Die Studie entwirft anhand der Auseinandersetzung mit Zeit in Erzähltexten der Frühen Neuzeit eine historische Narratologie, die erzählerische Faktoren, die Struktur der erzählten Welt und semantische Elemente in ihren Ansatz einbindet und somit den Bogen schlägt zwischen formgeschichtlichen und kontextualisierenden Ansätzen. Mit Hilfe dieses Ansatzes werden in kurzen Beispiellektüren, umfassenderen Romanlektüren und durch literarhistorische Seitenblicke die vielfältigen, parallel bestehenden, teils widersprüchlichen Konzepte von Zeit in literarischen Erzähltexten der Frühen Neuzeit rekonstruiert. Die Lektüren führen vor der Folie des frühneuzeitlichen Modernisierungsprozesses vor, dass es in literarischen Texten nicht die eine Zeit gibt, sondern eine Vielzahl von erzählten Zeiten. Die Befunde der Studie lassen sich in methodischer Hinsicht und mit Blick auf kulturgeschichtliche Fragen weiterdenken, interessant sind sie also gleichermaßen für erzähltheoretische wie literarhistorische Forschungsfragen.

Does the state of the business cycle matter for the effects of fiscal policy shocks on GDP? This study analyses quarterly German data from 1976 to 2009 in a threshold SVAR, expanding the SVAR approach by Blanchard and Perotti (2002). In a linear benchmark SVAR, the analysis finds that hiking spending yields a short-term fiscal multiplier of around 0.70, while the fiscal multiplier resulting from an increase in taxes and social security contributions is -0.66. In addition, the threshold model derives fundamentally new insights on the effects of shocks, depending on when in the business cycle they occur, their size and their direction. Most importantly, fiscal spending multipliers are much larger in times of a negative output gap but have only a very limited effect in times of a positive output gap. Discretionary revenue policies, on the other hand, have a generally more limited impact. Our findings have important implications for the optimal fiscal policy mix over different stages of the business cycle. Various robustness checks, including a different threshold specification, do not influence these implications substantially.

Nothing affects the modern economy (and society) more than decisions made in the market place, especially, but not only, decisions made by consumers. Although it is not startling to suggest that decisions made in production are affected by choices consumers make, consumers have long been viewed, not only by academic economists, as individual, isolated rational actors that make or refrain from purchases purely on the basis of narrow financial considerations. Markets are not and never were morally neutral. Market relations have always had an often taken-for-granted moral underpinning. The moralization of the markets refers to the dissolution and replacement of the conventional moral underpinnings of market conduct, for example, in the music market, financial markets, and corporate governance. It further implies not only the heightened importance of new ethical precepts, but the significant change in the role of moral ideals in market behavior. These profound transformations of economic conduct are accompanied and co-determined by societal conflicts. The moralization of markets represents thus a new stage in the social evolution of markets. The book is divided into four parts, in which the twelve chapters, written by contributors from different social science disciplines, deal with the context of the moralization of the markets; the major social institutions; and present case studies that examine European and American attitudes and behavior towards tobacco and GMO; expansion of the private and ethics in business; and how workers respond to the new corporate norms. This volume will be of interest to sociologists, economists, social scientists, and the general consumer alike.

Die mit über 22.000 Versen umfangreichste deutschsprachige Fabelsammlung im 16. Jahrhundert zeichnet sich nicht nur durch ihren Bestand an 400 Fabeln und Erzählungen, sondern auch durch ihre vielfältigen narrativen und diskursiven Formen aus. Aufgenommen werden ursprünglich fabelfremde, d.h. nicht äsopische, Erzählungen wie Fazetien, Mären, Witze oder Schwänke im Erzählteil und im zweiten Fabelteil Elemente wie Antiken- und Bibelzitate, Sprichwörter, Exempel, Erzählungen und ein Sprecher-Ich, das als Deutender wie als Erzähler auftritt. Wiewohl in allen größeren Literatur- und Autorlexika vertreten und in literaturhistorischen Abrissen berücksichtigt, ist in den letzten Jahrzehnten das Hauptwerk des ehemaligen Mönchs und protestantischen Pfarrers Burkard Waldis kaum Gegenstand einer literaturwissenschaftlichen Analyse gewesen. Die erste umfangreiche Untersuchung seit dem Erscheinen der Edition in dieser Reihe (2011) widmet sich auf der Grundlage von Quellen, Gattungstradition und Textgeschichte den Sammlungsmerkmalen, Autorisierungsstrategien und Deutungsmöglichkeiten der frühneuzeitlichen Fabel im ‚Esopus‘. Die besondere Aufmerksamkeit der Studie liegt auf dem moralisierenden zweiten Fabelteil, in dem der Sinn einer jeden Fabel konkretisiert wird, indem durch spezifische und unterschiedliche Verfahren belehrt, vereindeutigt, verallgemeinert und kommentiert wird. Die Studie verknüpft im Rahmen ihrer Analyse von Formen der Gattungstransformation, der Selbstautorisierung und Sinnkonstitution mikroanalytische Untersuchungen einzelner Fabeln mit der makroanalytischen Betrachtung des Gesamtwerks.
