Informing Science Volume One Concepts And Systems written by T. Grandon Gill and has been published by Informing Science this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with categories.

The two volume Informing Science series is the first attempt to survey and synthesize research in the informing science transdiscipline. Part textbook, part collection of readings, the two volumes present both important research findings relating to the field and highlight fertile directions for future research. Volume One: Concepts and Systems focuses on the key building blocks of informing science. It begins with an overview of the transdiscipline, tracing its evolution from Cohen’s original proposal to its present state. Next, it considers a series of concepts that frequently elude attempts at rigorous definition. Among these: theory, research, information, knowledge and complexity. With working definitions established, it goes on to explore basic systems theory, introducing the concept of an informing system. The key elements of such systems—the channel, the sender/informer, and the receiver/client—are then examined individually. The volume concludes with two overview chapters. The first of these looks at the analysis of a basic informing system, in which a single informer interacts directly with a clearly specified client or set of clients. The last chapter extends these ideas to the more complex topologies (e.g., multiple channels, multiple informers, multiple clients, layers of informing) that are more typical in real world informing contexts.

Scientific Research In Information Systems written by Jan Recker and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-10-21 with Computers categories.

This book introduces higher-degree research students and early career academics to scientific research as occurring in the field of information systems and adjacent fields, such as computer science, management science, organization science, and software engineering. Instead of focusing primarily on research methods as many other textbooks do, it covers the entire research process, from start to finish, placing particular emphasis on understanding the cognitive and behavioural aspects of research, such as motivation, modes of inquiry, theorising, planning for research, planning for publication, and ethical challenges in research. Comprehensive but also succinct and compact, the book guides beginning researchers in their quest to do scholarly work and to assist them in developing their own answers and strategies over the course of their work. Jan Recker explains in this book the fundamental concepts that govern scientific research and then moves on to introduce the basic steps every researcher undertakes: choosing research questions, developing theory, building a research design, employing research methods, and finally writing academic papers. He also covers essentials of ethical conduct of scientific research. This second edition contains major updates on all these elements plus significant expansions on relevant research methods such as design research and computational methods, a rewritten and extended chapter on theory development, and expansions to the chapters on research methods, scientific publishing, and research ethics. A companion website provides pedagogical materials and instructions for using this book in teaching.

Disruptive Technologies In International Business written by Alka Maurya and has been published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-07-24 with Business & Economics categories.

New technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), etc. are redefining business processes around the world at a rapid rate and resulting in both great opportunities and challenges for businesses. Though these technologies are extensively being used in developed countries, emerging economies are also not far behind. Disruptive Technologies in International Business advances the understanding of technological applications in business within an international paradigm. With its in-depth discussions of diverse topics such as the global value chain (GVC), environmental risk management, IoT, Surface Mobility, and anime, the book argues that technologies offer many advantages but there are accompanying risks, challenges, and disadvantages as well. The need of the hour is to address the impact of these technologies on the environment, society, and economy of the world. This book offers a collage of insights on how these technologies can potentially change the playing field in businesses and countries and contribute to the betterment of society. This book will provide business practitioners, international organizations, government officials, and policy makers with inspiration and new leads toward more efficient systems, policies, and operational frameworks in our increasingly technology-driven society.
