Peter Wright has been a dancer, choreographer, teacher, producer and director in the theatre as well as in television for over 70 years. His many productions of classic ballets are danced by companies not only in Britain but North and South America, Australia and Japan as well as in Europe. His production of Giselle has been danced by National Ballet of Canada for over 40 years. Birmingham Royal Ballet, the company he created, has performed his Swan Lake for 35 years, The Sleeping Beauty for over 30, a production Peter staged in Budapest in April 2016. His different stagings of The Nutcracker at Covent Garden and in Birmingham have charmed audiences for over 30 years. Peter started his career in wartime, with the Kurt Jooss company. He has worked with such greats as Pina Bausch, Margot Fonteyn, Rudolf Nureyev, Marcia Haydée, Richard Cragun, Monica Mason, Karen Kain, Miyako Yoshida and Carlos Acosta – as well as today’s generation of stars including Alina Cojocaru, Marianela Nuñez, Natalia Osipova and Lauren Cuthbertson. While now regarded as part of the British ballet establishment, for many years Peter developed his career outside London, particularly in Germany with John Cranko’s Stuttgart Ballet. That distance gives him a unique and unrivalled view on ballet companies. His close association with choreographers Frederick Ashton, Ninette de Valois, founder of the Royal Ballet, Kenneth MacMillan and David Bintley gives Peter an authoritative perspective on British ballet. In Wrights & Wrongs, Peter offers his often surprising views of today’s dance world, lessons learned – and yet to learn – from a lifetime’s experience of ballet, commercial theatre and television.

New York Times bestselling author and award-winning journalist, Nina Burleigh, explores Donald Trump’s attitudes toward women by providing in-depth analysis and background on the women who have had the most profound influence on his life—the mother and grandmother who raised him, the wives who lived with him, and the daughter who is poised to inherit it all. Has any president in the history of the United States had a more fraught relationship with women than Donald Trump? He flagrantly cheated on all three of his wives, brushed off multiple accusations of sexual assault, publicly ogled his eldest daughter, bought the silence of a porn star and a Playmate, and proclaimed his now-infamous seduction technique: “grab ’em by the pussy.” Golden Handcuffs is a comprehensive and provocative account of the women who have been closest to Trump—his German-immigrant grandmother, Elizabeth, the uncredited founder of the Trump Organization; his Scottish-immigrant mother, Mary, who acquired a taste for wealth as a maid in the Andrew Carnegie mansion; his wives—Ivana, Marla, and Melania (the first and third of whom are immigrants); and his eldest daughter, Ivanka, groomed to take over the Trump brand from a young age. Also examined are Trump’s two older sisters, one of whom is a prominent federal judge; his often-overlooked younger daughter, Tiffany; his female employees; and those he calls “liars”—the women who have accused him of sexual misconduct. Of these women, Burleigh writes, “where they come from and what they do now and in the future matters because they have or have had the ear of the most powerful man on earth.”

The English national character is principally an accident of geography and weather. In How England Made the English, Harry Mount scours the length and breadth of the country to find the curiosities, idiosyncrasies and peculiarities that have made us who and what we are. 'Highly readable, encyclopeadic, marvellous, illuminating. Mount portrays England via dexterous excavations of its geography, geology, history and weather.' Independent 'A lovely book, very engaging and easy to read. There are chapters on weather and soil and stone, on the history of hedges or the making of suburbia, all of them infectious did-you-knows. Mount is a natural and enthusiastic sharer of knowledge.' Evening Standard 'Charming and nerdily fact-stuffed.' Guardian 'Lively, a delight. Mount's paragraphs explode with information . . . I love all this, want more, and am given it. The sort of book, in its temperament and in its detail, that has helped to make England English.' Spectator 'Mount is as perceptive as he is obsessive, and time and again he skewers with unfailing accuracy some aspect of our national character.' Mail on Sunday 'Fascinating. Mount's an intelligent, funny and always interesting companion.' Daily Mail

100% of The Late Show’s proceeds from this book go to hurricane relief. Whose Boat Is This Boat? Comments That Don’t Help in the Aftermath of a Hurricane is a picture book made entirely of quotations from President Donald Trump in the wake of Hurricane Florence. It is the first children’s book that demonstrates what not to say after a natural disaster. On September 19, 2018, Donald Trump paid a visit to New Bern, North Carolina, one of the towns ravaged by Hurricane Florence. It was there he showed deep concern for a boat that washed ashore. “At least you got a nice boat out of the deal,” said President Trump to hurricane victims. “Have a good time!” he told them. The only way his comments would be appropriate is in the context of a children’s book—and now you can experience them that way, thanks to the staff of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Whose Boat Is This Boat? is an excellent teaching tool for readers of all ages who enjoy learning about empathy by process of elimination. Have a good time!
