Bitcoin is starting to come into its own as a digital currency, but the blockchain technology behind it could prove to be much more significant. This book takes you beyond the currency ("Blockchain 1.0") and smart contracts ("Blockchain 2.0") to demonstrate how the blockchain is in position to become the fifth disruptive computing paradigm after mainframes, PCs, the Internet, and mobile/social networking. Author Melanie Swan, Founder of the Institute for Blockchain Studies, explains that the blockchain is essentially a public ledger with potential as a worldwide, decentralized record for the registration, inventory, and transfer of all assets—not just finances, but property and intangible assets such as votes, software, health data, and ideas. Topics include: Concepts, features, and functionality of Bitcoin and the blockchain Using the blockchain for automated tracking of all digital endeavors Enabling censorship?resistant organizational models Creating a decentralized digital repository to verify identity Possibility of cheaper, more efficient services traditionally provided by nations Blockchain for science: making better use of the data-mining network Personal health record storage, including access to one’s own genomic data Open access academic publishing on the blockchain This book is part of an ongoing O’Reilly series. Mastering Bitcoin: Unlocking Digital Crypto-Currencies introduces Bitcoin and describes the technology behind Bitcoin and the blockchain. Blockchain: Blueprint for a New Economy considers theoretical, philosophical, and societal impact of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies.

BLOCKCHAIN The next step in the technological revolution is here with Blockchain! Blockchain technology is in the news more and more these days, especially as Bitcoin prices continue to climb closer and closer to $20,000 per unit. Generating plenty of news for speculative investors to obsess over is only one of its many uses, however, and it is likely going to be those who put it to use solving problems in new and creative ways that really win out once all the speculation has finished. If you want to make sure you are on the right side of the coming technological revolution, then Blockchain: A Guide to Understanding Blockchain is the book you have been waiting for. Each blockchain is a decentralized database which stores data in such a way that it allows for easy access by a wide variety of users while still offering top rate security and ease of use. It is for these reasons that many experts are already calling it the most significant new technological innovation since the creation of the internet despite the fact that less than 50 percent of the population can accurately describe what a blockchain is, and less than 10 percent interact with it on a regular basis. If that sounds like you, then you will appreciate the fact that inside you will find a breakdown of blockchain technology, along with suggestions for how to use it to improve your business, whatever it may be, a breakdown of the basics of the major cryptocurrencies on the market today and what the future might hold for this amazing technology. This book will cover the following: • The Fundamentals of Blockchain • Smart Contracts • The Story Behind Blockchain • How Blockchain Works • Main Participants in a Blockchain Transaction • Key Elements in Block Batching & Stacking It will not only cover this, you will also learn about: • Utilization of Blockchain and its Importance • How Blockchain Can Improve Your Business • Learning the Basics and History of Cryptocurrency • The Future that Blockchain Holds • How it Will Shape the Economy Enjoy the third book in the series from Cryptomasher! What are you waiting for? Take control and buy this book today!

Richie covers the so what of blockchain as opposed to the crowded area of the what of blockchain. In the 1st half readers self-realize that a trust gap is exponentially expanding in commerce, and humans are carrying the unnecessary burden to always trust but verify with intermediaries. Today, we the human species start every company or transaction with the automatic subliminal assumption that counterparties cannot be trusted. In the 2nd half, Richie re-positions blockchain from a paradigm that is looking for a problem, into a paradigm that would help close the trust gap. Blockchain, mankind’s first opportunity for trusted commerce at global scale. About the Author

A blockchain is a digitized, decentralized, public ledger of all cryptocurrency transactions. Constantly growing as ‘completed’ blocks, the most recent transactions are recorded and added to it in chronological order, it allows market participants to keep track of digital currency transactions without central recordkeeping. Each node (a computer connected to the network) gets a copy of the blockchain, which is downloaded automatically. Originally developed as the accounting method for the virtual currency Bitcoin, blockchains, which use what's known as distributed ledger technology – are appearing in a variety of commercial applications today. Currently, the technology is primarily used to verify transactions, within digital currencies though it is possible to digitize, code and insert practically any document into the blockchain. Doing so creates an indelible record that cannot be changed; furthermore, the record’s authenticity can be verified by the entire community using the blockchain instead of a single centralized authority.
