"Caesar's Messiah," a real life "Da Vinci Code," presents the dramatic and controversial discovery that the conventional views of Christian origins may be wrong. Author Joseph Atwill makes the case that the Christian Gospels were actually written under the direction of first-century Roman emperors. The purpose of these texts was to establish a peaceful Jewish sect to counterbalance the militaristic Jewish forces that had just been defeated by the Roman Emperor Titus in 70 A.D. Atwill uncovered the secret key to this story in the writings of Josephus, the famed first-century Roman historian. Reading Josephus's chronicle, "The War of the Jews," the author found detail after detail that closely paralleled events recounted in the Gospels. Atwill skillfully demonstrates that the emperors used the Gospels to spark a new religious movement that would aid them in maintaining power and order. What's more, by including hidden literary clues, they took the story of the Emperor Titus's glorious military victory, as recounted by Josephus, and embedded that story in the Gospels - a sly and satirical way of glorifying the emperors through the ages.

Christianity MUST respond to the book "Caesar's Messiah" or we will be in for trouble. One of the implications is that Josephus the most prominent historian of the first Century may have had a hand in writing the New Testament. It is suggested that he is St. Paul. That means that St. Paul never existed but was a false name and disguise for Josephus. Josephus is not an honourable Jewish person, he will sell-out if it in his favour. He was married four times and was viewed as traitor by first century Jews. If he is ever seen as the architect of the New Testament the foundation of the church would not be Christ but con-artistry. The aim of the Gospel would not be making disciples but doping people. It would dumbing them down. It would be making them docile and domesticated, turning the masses in asses. Those who received it would become the burden bearers, docile donkeys to carry on the luxury life of " those of Caesar's household "The term sheep would no longer be a picture of serenity and servant-hood but stupidity and senselessness.I am painfully aware that Christianity has done much to erode the moral ground on which she should stand. but her origin and the Devine nature of the infallible Words that leads her are still good grounds or legs on which she stand. Thus my response when I came across Joseph Atwill's Caesar's Messiah was never to take him lightly. My first response was anger. How dare you reduce my Saviour, the Prince of Peace to something made with pen and paper? What gives you the gall to even suggest that the life-giver was made from mere literature? The world's creature should not be allowed to be spoken of as some story patched up in Titus' backyard. What was very troubling was that Atwill sounds almost irrefutable. I was very disconcerted. What was most troubling was that the matters presented can easily lead any well-thinking modern mind to see a line of logic running from the first century right down to our day. The line of logic may appear to be so seamless as to lead one to think that if Joe Atwill is not right , he is definitely onto Something. The more I considered Caesar's Messiah the more I saw in it a danger to the Christian faith. I then turn to deeper study of the first century AD and the result is the book you are now reading.

Creating Christ written by James S. Valliant and has been published by Crossroad Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-09-07 with Religion categories.

Exhaustively annotated and illustrated, this explosive work of history unearths clues that finally demonstrate the truth about one of the world’s great religions: that it was born out of the conflict between the Romans and messianic Jews who fought a bitter war with each other during the 1st Century. The Romans employed a tactic they routinely used to conquer and absorb other nations: they grafted their imperial rule onto the religion of the conquered. After 30 years of research, authors James S. Valliant and C.W. Fahy present irrefutable archeological and textual evidence that proves Christianity was created by Roman Caesars in this book that breaks new ground in Christian scholarship and is destined to change the way the world looks at ancient religions forever. Inherited from a long-past era of tyranny, war and deliberate religious fraud, could Christianity have been created for an entirely different purpose than we have been lead to believe? Praised by scholars like Dead Sea Scrolls translator Robert Eisenman (James the Brother of Jesus), this exhaustive synthesis of historical detective work integrates all of the ancient sources about the earliest Christians and reveals new archeological evidence for the first time. And, despite the fable presented in current bestsellers like Bill O’Reilly’s Killing Jesus, the evidence presented in Creating Christ is irrefutable: Christianity was invented by Roman Emperors. I have rarely encountered a book so original, exciting, accessible and informed on subjects that are of obvious importance to the world and to which I have myself devoted such a large part of my scholarly career studying. In this book they have rendered a startling new understanding of Christianity with a controversial theory of its Roman provenance that is accessible to the layman in a very powerful way. In the process, they present new and comprehensive archeological and iconographic evidence, as well as utilizing the widest and most cutting edge work of other recent scholars, including myself. This is a work of outstanding and original scholarship. Its arguments are a brilliant, profound and thorough integration of the relevant evidence. When they are done, the conclusion is inescapable and obviously profound. Robert Eisenman, Author of James the Brother of Jesus and The New Testament Code "A fascinating and provocative investigative history of ideas, boldly exploring a problem that previous scholarship has not clearly or credibly addressed: how (and why!) the Flavian dynasty wove Christianity into the very fabric of Western civilization." -Mark Riebling, author of Church of Spies: The Pope's Secret War Against Hitler

With his best-selling book Caesar's Messiah Joseph Atwill established himself as one of the world's most penetrating independent scholars, rocking the field of Biblical studies and changing our modern understanding of Jesus and the Gospels forever. He uncovered what has been kept hidden from the public for millennia: Christianity began as a highly complex psychological warfare campaign during the First Jewish-Roman War, an ambitious literature project began by the Caesars that was later honed into a potent tool of statecraft, used to this day by the oligarchy for mass pacification.Shakespeare's Secret Messiah is the forceful follow-up that could take the whole of Shakespearean scholarship in a new direction. Continuing his exposé on the New Testament (revealing who really wrote the letters of the Apostle Paul and the Book of Revelation) Atwill demonstrates that the thrust behind the famous playwright's work was to wreak literary revenge, 'measure for measure,' against the deception of the Caesars. The Bard's hidden war on the the Roman Catholic Church, encoded in 'puzzle passages' in the plays, is the key that finally unlocks the true identity of 'Shakespeare,' explaining why the real author chose to hide behind a pseudonym and why other anti-Stratfordian theorists have been looking in the wrong place.Atwill shows step by step how to decrypt familiar works of literature that the average person is expected to revere but not really understand, giving the reader the skills to recognize the true political struggles that have been commemorated in a shadowland of symbols guarded by the ruling classes and in secret societies.

The Gospel of Mark has been studied from multiple angles using many methods. But often there remains a sense that something is wanting, that the full picture of Mark's Gospel lacks some background circuitry that would light up the whole. Adam Winn finds a clue in the cataclysmic destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in AD 70. For Jews and Christians it was an apocalyptic moment. The gods of Rome seemed to have conquered the God of the Jews. Could it be that Mark wrote his Gospel in response to Roman imperial propaganda surrounding this event? Could a messiah crucified by Rome really be God’s Son appointed to rule the world? Winn considers how Mark might have been read by Christians in Rome in the aftermath of the fall of Jerusalem. He introduces us to the propaganda of the Flavian emperors and excavates the Markan text for themes that address the Roman imperial setting. We discover an intriguing first-century response to the question “Christ or Caesar?"

This volume brings together respected biblical scholars to evaluate the turn toward "empire criticism" in recent New Testament scholarship. While praising the movement for its deconstruction of Roman statecraft and ideology, the contributors also provide a salient critique of the anti-imperialist rhetoric pervading much of the current literature.

Saul of Tarsus is one of the best known and most beloved figures of Christianity. This man, later known as St. Paul, set the tone for Christianity, including an emphasis on celibacy, the theory of divine grace and salvation, and the elimination of circumcision. It was Paul who wrote a large part of the New Testament, and who called it euangelion, "the gospel". There is another side of Paul, however, that has been little studied and that is his connection to the Roman military establishment and its intelligence arm. While other scholars and writers have suggested the idea that Paul was cooperating with the Romans, this is the first book-length study to document it in detail. By looking at the traditional story through a new lens, some of the thorniest questions and contradictions in Paul's life can be unravelled. How did he come to work for the Temple authorities who collaborated with the Romans? How was he able to escape from legal situations in which others would have been killed? Why were so many Jews trying to have Paul killed and to which sect did they belong? These and other mysteries will be solved as the authors follow Paul's career and his connections to Roman intelligence.

The question is: Is Jesus Divus Julius? (Is Jesus the historical figure of Divus Julius, the god to which Julius Caesar was elevated?). The iconography of Caesar do not fit our idea of him. In our minds Caesar is a field marshall and a dictator. However, authentic images portray the idea of the clementia Caesaris, a clement Caesar. Jesus' life is congruent to the life of Caesar. Both Julius Caesar and Jesus began their careers in northern countries: Caesar in Gaul, Jesus in Galilee; both cross a fatal river: the Rubicon and the Jordan; both then enter cities; Corfinium and Cafarnaum; Caesar finds Corfinium occupied by a man of Pompey and besieges him, while Jesus finds a man possessed by an impure spirit. There is similarity in structure as well as in place names. People in the stories of Caesar and of Jesus are structurally the same people, even by name and location. Caesar's most famous quotations are found in the gospels in structurally significant places.

Killing A Messiah written by Adam Winn and has been published by InterVarsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-14 with Fiction categories.

As Passover approaches, the city of Jerusalem is a political tinderbox. Judah, a resistance leader, plots to overthrow the Roman occupation. Eleazar and his father, the high priest Caiaphas, seek peace in the city at all costs. Pilate, the Roman governor, maneuvers to keep order (and his own hold on power). Caleb, a shopkeeper, is reluctantly caught up in the intrigue. When rumors start spreading about the popular prophet Jesus, hailed by many as the Messiah, Roman and Jewish leaders alike fear unrest and violence during the upcoming festival. Then, in the midst of this tension, unexpected alliances emerge. In Killing a Messiah, New Testament scholar Adam Winn weaves together stories of historical and fictional characters in a fresh reimagining of the events leading up to Jesus' execution. Based on what we know of the first-century context, Winn's narrative offers compelling explanations for gaps in the Gospel accounts. The social, political, and religious realities of Jesus' world come to life and shed new light on our reading of the biblical texts. In a city full of political entanglements, espionage, and competing interests, the blame for the crucifixion is complex and can't land on just a single party. It takes more than one to kill a messiah.
