ESCLARMONDE OF FOIX - Cathar PrincessTreasure of the Holy Grail Esclarmonde of Foix (1155-1244) was the tireless French activist and noblewoman, who became the dedicated Princess of the Cathars and her Supreme Grand-Master. It was she who worked for the reconstruction of Montségur Castle after its destruction by the Crusades in 1208.In 1214, after the reconstruction of Montségur the Magic Castle located on her family's land in The County of Foix, she decided to move to the Castle, where she went to live. After her move to Montségur, Esclarmonde moved little away from there, even in the midst of bloody religious persecutions, remaining there until her death. For it was said that there was kept the Treasure of the Holy Grail, of which she was considered her Protector and Supreme Guardian.Burned FieldWhen, in 1244, the Army of the Inquisition forced those who were refugees in the Castle to capitulate, the Cathars still had a period of 15 days to complete their spiritual task. At that time, the mysterious Cathar Treasure was hidden in the caves of the Ariège Valley and was never found. But part of it was taken by Amiel Aicard to Lombrives Cathedral. On March 16, 1244, two hundred and five men and women voluntarily threw themselves into the flames of the campfire. Esclarmonde led the group the Perfects that launched themselves at the stake but remaining unknown to the public. Legends have said that as the Perfects walked toward the campfire, holding hands and singing, one Troubadour who stood among the crowd made the following Prophecy: "After 700 years the Laurel will reflower on the ashes of the martyrs".It is necessary to remember that the Laurel is the classic symbol of victory, which is used in the making of the crown of the winners. The Prophecy of the Laurel was renewed in 1321, and its Revelation is expected to take place again in the year 2021. This should bring the healing expected by mankind with the Love of God.Fall of Montségur CastleElder Estela was concerned about the risk of an imminent invasion of the Montségur Castle.Estela was the name that Esclarmonde de Foix had called herself for the communities that lived in the Castle.Since she escaped from the local society, in the face of the persecutions she suffered from the emissaries of the king of France. For all people, her brother Raymond had told her that she had died in the caves of the Cathar Community.Since, in 1215, in an audience with the Pope in Rome, he had been told that he would only recover his possessions if he surrendered his sister Esclarmonde to the authorities. To be judged for activities they considered subversive.Raymond returned from Rome without any success in recovering his properties. And without reaching any agreement. But surrendering his sister Esclarmonde to enemies was unthinkable for Raymond. However, due to threats against her, rumors began to spread that she had died in the caves. In addition, Raymond recommended Esclarmonde to withdraw from circulation in and around Foix County.Esclarmonde started to dedicate himself to the reconstruction of Montségur Castle and to the humanitarian causes of Cathar Houses. That they assisted the widows of the crusades against the Albigenses and the elderly who were left without occupation, due to the persecutions of the king of France. When the reconstruction of Montségur Castle was finished, Esclarmonde moved to the Castle, from where she almost never left.Except for the times when she got into the Caves of the Cathars, where she stayed for long periods. In 1242, new news spread about the death of Esclarmonde in the caves, because the persecutions and searches for she had intensified again. In addition to starting to make sieges and combats in the vicinity of the Montségur Castle. But Esclarmonde continued with her aid and assistance activities in the Ussat les Bains region, close to the Castle.

Massenet S Use Of Leitmotive In Esclarmonde written by Michel Landry and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1981 with categories.

In his autobiography, Jules Massenet stated that he idolized the music of Berlioz and Wagner. As a composer, he aimed at variety of musical expression and of harmonic and orchestral colouring, and he found the scope he needed for such variety in many diverse subjects. Wagnerian influences are particularly evident in the areas of libretti and use of Leitmotive . Even if taken as coincidental and superficial, these aspects of Massenet's operas are too striking to be ignored, for the oft used and well-integrated Leitmotive and the orchestra's symphonic-expositional treatment all pay homage to Wagner. By grafting these elements onto the French opera tradition, Massenet earned and occupied for many years a position in France analogous to that of Wagner in Germany and of Verdi in Italy. Its combination of realism and fantasy makes Esclarmonde (1889) a concentrated summation of the subjects Massenet treated in his operatic output. The work is therefore much more of a music drama than any of his earlier operas, and yet it remains entirely French in perspective. Massenet had earlier experimented with Leitmotive in Manon (1884), and in Esclarmonde , he adopted the technique with greater resolution. Though subtitled "Romanesque Opera," Esclarmonde is essentially a dramatic symphony. In the first chapter, a discussion of Wagner's use of Leitmotive is presented. This is followed by a review of the state of French opera in the nineteenth century. The second chapter follows Massenet's development as a composer of operas. The final chapter discusses Esclarmonde : Leitmotive in its origins, its influences, and Massenet's use of the work.

Studies on the reception of the classical tradition are an indispensable part of classical studies. Understanding the importance of ancient civilization means also studying how it was used subsequently. This kind of approach is still relatively rare in the field of Byzantine Studies. This volume, which is the result of the range of interests in (mostly) non-English-speaking research communities, takes an important step to filling this gap by investigating the place and dimensions of ’Byzantium after Byzantium’. This collection of essays uses the idea of ’reception-theory’ and expands it to show how European societies after Byzantium have responded to both the reality, and the idea of Byzantine Civilisation. The authors discuss various forms of Byzantine influence in the post-Byzantine world from architecture to literature to music to the place of Byzantium in modern political debates (e.g. in Russia). The intentional focus of the present volume is on those aspects of Byzantine reception less well-known to English-reading audiences, which accounts for the inclusion of Bulgarian, Czech, Polish and Russian perspectives. As a result this book shows that although so-called 'Byzantinism' is a pan-European phenomenon, it is made manifest in local/national versions. The volume brings together specialists from various countries, mainly Byzantinists, whose works focus not only on Byzantine Studies (that is history, literature and culture of the Byzantine Empire), but also on the influence of Byzantine culture on the world after the Fall of Constantinople.
