It aims to point out some fallacies popularly believed, to make some suggestions that should be helpful, to bring out such facts as have not heretofore been generally known - or, if known, not appreciated as to their importance - and to serve the people and the best-interests of the entire City of Philadelphia. In its preparation I have given much study as to how the burdens and benefits which the lines 'will produce should be distributed, and suggestions are herein presented. While in this report' a program of construction is advised which calls for the authorization at this time of only I feel that the determination of the amount that shall be authorized is a matter that rests entirely with the citizens and their representatives in City Councils. This report of the Transportation Research Board describes the federal studies and guidelines that are available and presents the findings of an extensive survey of state, regional, and local agencies to identify the evaluation methods that are being used in the practice. Selected case studies for five types of modal evaluation are presented: intercity corridor, regional study, regional screening, urban corridor, and regional programming.

Public Transport And Its Users written by Hans-Liudger Dienel and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-03-02 with Political Science categories.

Public transport is essential to the quality of life of its passengers, both as a means to move around but also to achieve a sustainable environment. However, the passenger's position as a customer is weakened by the dominance of monopolies, regulation and political influence in our public transport systems. This book is one of the first to examine strategies for the representation of user interests in public transport from a variety of perspectives. The authors review approaches to integrating the passengers' views in the planning process and to protecting their interests in operations and customer care across a range of European countries, including Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and EU policies. The book presents the conclusions of this research and examples of good practice. In this respect it will provide useful guidance for policy makers, stakeholder organizations and planners, as well as transport researchers.
