Die Konstanzer Historikerin (vgl. auch BA 8/86, ID 27/91) interpretiert den Geschlechterbegriff in der Neuzeit. Zunächst in den Konversationslexika, dann in ausführlicheren Zeugnissen aus Literatur bzw. Politik. In den Debatten um das Frauenwahlrecht wurde z.B. immer wieder der Wehrdienst als Voraussetzung angeführt und die antimilitärische Haltung der Frauen als Gefahr für die Weltmachtpolitik gesehen, was nationalen Selbstmord bedeute. Im Bürgertum gereichte eine brave Hausmutter dem Mann zur Ehre, wenn sie ihm jedoch nicht mehr untergeordnet sei, würde das auch für den Staat Umsturz nach sich ziehen. Trotz aufrüttelnder Erkenntnisse eine eher trockene Lektüre. (3)
