Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Philosophie - Philosophie der Antike, Note: 1,5, Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg (Philosophie), Veranstaltung: Ethik der Weltreligionen: Das Christentum, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der grundsätzlichen Charakteristik nach findet sich in der Gnosis eine Erlösungslehre, wie auch im Christentum, die einen Ausweg aus den Unzulänglichkeiten des irdischen Lebens zu kennen glaubt. Beide gehen im Übrigen von einer teleologisch konzipierten Heilsgeschichte aus. Am Anfang steht eine paradiesische Einheit, dann erfährt diese einen tragischen Zwischenfall, der die materielle Welt entwickelt und zum Schluss steht die Wiederherstellung jener ursprünglichen Einheit und daraus folgend die Erlösung. In diesen Punkten herrschen die grundsätzlichen Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen Christentum und Gnosis. Nur wie diese Grundgedanken in die Theorie einfließen ist divergent. So gelangt die Gnosis zu völlig anderen Vorstellungen als das Christentum. Zu diesen gnostischen Vorstellungen stellt Foerster in "Die Gnosis. Zeugnisse der Kirchenväter" fünf, wie er sie nennt, Hauptmomente vor: 1. Zwischen dieser Welt und dem unserem Denken unfassbaren Gott, dem Urgrund, ist ein unüberbrückbarer Gegensatz 2. Das Selbst, das Ich des Gnostikers, sein Geist oder seine Seele, ist unveränderlich göttlich. 3. Dieses Ich aber ist in diese Welt geraten und von ihr gefangen und betäubt worden und kann sich nicht selbst daraus befreien. 4. Erst ein göttlicher Ruf aus der Welt des Lichtes löst die Bande der Gefangenschaft 5. Aber erst am Ende dieser Welt kehrt das Göttliche in dem Menschen zu seiner Heimat zurück.
