Sustainable Action written by Christian Berg and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-13 with Business & Economics categories.

In this timely exploration of sustainable actions, Christian Berg unpacks the complexity in understanding the barriers we face in moving towards a sustainable future, providing solution perspectives for every level, from individuals to governments and supra-national organizations offering a lucid vision of a long-term and achievable goal for sustainability. While the 2030 Agenda has already set ambitious targets for humanity, it offers little guidance for concrete actions. Although much is already being done, progress seems slow and some actions aiming at sustainability may be counterproductive. Different disciplines, societal actors, governmental departments and NGOs attribute the slow progress to a number of different causes, from the corruption of politicians to the wrong incentive structures. Sustainable Action surveys all the fields involved in sustainability to provide action principles which speak to actors of different kinds, not just those professionally mandated with such changes. It offers a road map to all those who might not constantly think about systems change but who are concerned and want to contribute to a sustainable future in a meaningful way. This book will be of great interest to students and scholars of sustainability issues, as well as those looking for a framework for how to change their systems at work to impact the quadruple bottom line: environment, economy, society, and future generations.

Avatar And Nature Spirituality written by Bron Taylor and has been published by Wilfrid Laurier Univ. Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-09-30 with Religion categories.

Avatar and Nature Spirituality explores the cultural and religious significance of James Cameron’s film Avatar (2010), one of the most commercially successful motion pictures of all time. Its success was due in no small measure to the beauty of the Pandora landscape and the dramatic, heart-wrenching plight of its nature-venerating inhabitants. To some audience members, the film was inspirational, leading them to express affinity with the film’s message of ecological interdependence and animistic spirituality. Some were moved to support the efforts of indigenous peoples, who were metaphorically and sympathetically depicted in the film, to protect their cultures and environments. To others, the film was politically, ethically, or spiritually dangerous. Indeed, the global reception to the film was intense, contested, and often confusing. To illuminate the film and its reception, this book draws on an interdisciplinary team of scholars, experts in indigenous traditions, religious studies, anthropology, literature and film, and post-colonial studies. Readers will learn about the cultural and religious trends that gave rise to the film and the reasons these trends are feared, resisted, and criticized, enabling them to wrestle with their own views, not only about the film but about the controversy surrounding it. Like the film itself, Avatar and Nature Spirituality provides an opportunity for considering afresh the ongoing struggle to determine how we should live on our home planet, and what sorts of political, economic, and spiritual values and practices would best guide us.

This text provides integrated and unified treatment frameworks for anxiety disorders and examines how contemporary integrated psychotherapy treatment models from different therapeutic interventions can be used to help patients. Dr. Koenigsberg provides a research-based overview of major themes that underlie these treatment models, then analyzes the symptoms and causes of specific anxiety disorders such as panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and phobias, as well as obsessive-compulsive disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Case studies of integrated or unified treatment approaches are provided for each disorder, along with the theoretical and technical factors that are involved in applying these approaches in clinical practice. Supplementary online materials include PowerPoint slides and test questions to help readers further expand their understanding of integrated and unified approaches for the anxiety disorders and assess their newfound knowledge. Graduate and undergraduate students, novice and seasoned therapists, and researchers will learn the rationale for and the history of past and contemporary integrated and unified models of treatment to gain better insight into anxiety disorders.
