Die Ausarbeitung steht unter dem Thema „Peter Gabriel – Pop, Rock, New Age und Weltmusik mit deutlichen politischen Anklängen“. Beginnen werde ich mit einer kurzen Biographie von Peter Gabriel, die aufzeigen soll, welche tragende Rolle die Politik in seinem Leben vor und nach der Veröffentlichung von „Games without Frontiers“ spielte. Danach werde ich den historischen Hintergrund wiedergeben, vor welchem das Lied erschien. Einen besonderen Schwerpunkt lege ich hierbei auf den Vietnam-Krieg und den Kalten Krieg. Der Hauptteil, der nach dieser Darstellung beginnt, ist in zwei Teile gegliedert. Zum einen werde ich einleitend die Musikrichtungen Popmusik und Weltmusik vorstellen, um anschließend das Lied „Games without Frontiers“ zu interpretieren. Der Schwerpunkt bei der Interpretation liegt auf der Darstellung politischer Bemerkungen und Wertungen seitens Peter Gabriel. Daher lautet die Leitfrage anhand derer ich das Lied interpretieren werde: „Inwieweit nutzt Peter Gabriel sein Lied „Games without Frontiers“ um politische Kritik zu üben und zu verbreiten?“ Abschließend werde ich die politischen Aussagen des Liedes zusammenfassen und bewerten. Als Literatur und Quellen ziehe ich größtenteils Lexika zu Rate, die in der Universitätsbibliothek zu finden sind. Des Weiteren benutzte ich Monographien zum Kalten Krieg und zum Vietnam-Krieg.
