Ein Engagement "in der Provinz" galt fur Schauspieler fruher als wichtige Station in ihrem Theaterleben. Man war jung, konnte Erfahrungen sammeln und sich in der Geborgenheit eines Haus-Ensembles ausprobieren - kurzum, ein Repertoire erspielen und nebenbei erwachsen werden. Und dennoch gab es Orte, an die ein Schauspieler um nichts in der Welt engagiert werden wollte. Als "Das Letzte" galt ein Engagement in St. Polten. Kaum ein Theaterwitz, der nicht in St. Polten spielte, kaum jemand in Theaterkreisen, der keine Schauergeschichten uber genau dieses Theater kannte. Eine, die es Mitte der Siebzigerjahre dennoch genau dorthin - namlich an das Stadttheater St. Polten - gefuhrt hatte, ist die Schauspielerin Dagmar Truxa. Siebzehn Jahre lang, bis 1992 blieb sie dem Haus "in der Provinz" verbunden - das mittlerweile in einer Landeshauptstadt steht. Hier spielte sie alles, von der Operette bis zum Klassikerfach - und fand ihr Publikum.
