Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Tourismus - Sonstiges, Note: 1,3, International School of Management, Standort Dortmund , Veranstaltung: Impacts of tourism on host societies, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Spätestens seit ihren Boomzeiten zum Ende des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts wird die Tourismusbranche als elementarer Wirtschaftszweig verstanden, der jedoch auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen Besonderheiten aufweist. Im Vergleich der Tourismusdienstleistung mit Konsumgüterprodukten zeigt sich, dass eine Tourismusdienstleistung selten eine geschlossene Einzelleistung darstellt, sondern als ein individuell, vom einzelnen Konsumenten abhängiger, Zusammenschluss unterschiedlicher Teilleistungen zu verstehen ist. Während also der Konsum eines Brotes schlicht in dessen Kauf besteht, setzt sich der Konsum eines Tourismusprodukts u. a. aus solchen Komponenten wie dem Transport ins Zielgebiet und später vor Ort, der Beherbergungsleistung, dem Konsum in der Destination (z. B. Mahlzeiten in Gaststätten, Einkäufe im örtlichen Supermarkt) und dem Kontakt mit den Einheimischen zusammen. Diese (Dienst-)Leistungen werden von unterschiedlichen Leistungserbringern erbracht und neben den Touristen zusätzlich von dritten Instanzen – etwa dem Staat über Gesetze und Bestimmungen – beeinflusst. Diese Beeinflussungen unterstreichen unterstreicht den Charakter des Tourismus als offenes, dynamisches, mehrdimensionales System: Die ökologischen, ökonomischen, soziokulturellen, politischen und technologischen Rahmenbedingungen sind gleichzeitig „externe Faktoren“ und Empfänger „externer Effekte“, d.h. der Tourismus beeinflusst seine Umwelt und wird gleichzeitig von selbiger beeinflusst – ein Zustand des Stillstandes, ohne Veränderung des Systems ist (nahezu) unmöglich. Darüber hinaus sind Wechselwirkungen auch innerhalb des Tourismus zu beobachten: Bietet z. B. ein Hotel sehr günstige Übernachtungen an, und hat dies eine erhöhte Nachfrage zur Folge, sind positive Effekte für die anderen in der Destination ansässigen Unternehmen (z. B. Restaurants, Taxibetriebe, Einzelhandel) wahrscheinlich. Die vorliegende Arbeit fokussiert auf die externen Effekte und Einflüsse die der Tourismus auf Destinationen haben kann. Der erste Teil der Arbeit ist theoretisch gehalten und in Zusammenarbeit mit Mariana Noack – Beschreibung der ökologischen Einflüsse – und Julia Eva Peters – Beschreibung der ökonomischen Einflüsse – entstanden. Im zweiten Teil wird anhand des Kulturraums der Samen aufgezeigt, wie sich die Einflüsse des Tourismus auf lokale Verhältnisse auswirken und wie mit diesen Auswirkungen umgegangen wird bzw. umgegangen werden könnte.

Nature provides us with many services seemingly for free: recharged groundwater, fertile soil and plant biomass created by photosynthesis.
