The Church As Moral Community written by Lewis Seymour Mudge and has been published by World Council of Churches this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998 with Religion categories.

Contributions by churches to public discourse have become disconnected from the fabric of communal relationships in which Christians stand by virtue of the reconciling work of God in Jesus Christ. We argue individualistically, legally, ideologically, but seldom as members of a body for whom relationships of basic trust with others are fundamental. This book seeks a strategy for recovering these missing connections. The heart of the argument is that churches need to recover the vocation of providing primary moral formation, of shaping people's moral identity, long before politicized policy arguments begin.

Fr Hchristliche Mahlfeiern written by Hans Joachim Stein and has been published by Mohr Siebeck this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Bible categories.

English summary: Hans Joachim Stein investigates the liturgical form of communal meals in early Christianity and their theological meaning, as it is attested by the New Testament Epistles and the Revelation of John. Considering the context of Greco-Roman symposia, club banquets and Jewish meals, he shows that early Christian groups, although they participated in their cultural environment, tried to establish a specific Christian meal practice which can be understood as an image of their own theological identity. The fact that the meal practices varied a lot among early Christian congregations can be taken as an indicator for the diversity not only of Christian meals but also of Christian identities.

Peter S Legacy In Early Christianity written by John-Christian Eurell and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021 with Religion categories.

John-Christian Eurell studies how Peter's authority is portrayed to create legitimacy in Christian texts. Peter emerges as a central figure in the diverse early Christian movement and is used to discuss theological legitimacy. The main divide is between those who argue that legitimate theology should have a conservative point of departure based on traditional material handed down from the earthly Jesus and an apostolic succession based on interpersonal relations and those who argue in favour of a more progressive point of departure which places emphasis on contemporary charismatic experiences. These perspectives are utilised by groups of various theological persuasions to argue their own position. Peter is seen as a positive and negative example for both these ways of creating legitimacy.

Farewell To Matters Of Principle written by Odo Marquard and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1989-12-28 with Philosophy categories.

This book is the latest addition to the Odéon series, a multidisciplinary series devoted to original works and translations by European writers in the areas of literature, criticism, philosophy, history and politics. An English translation of the German best-seller Abschied vom Prinzipiellen, the book offers a series of essays that present a philosophy of human morality critical of philosophical utopianism. Marquard, widely considered the heir of Gadamer, Habermas, and Blumenberg, describes his role as "skeptical philosopher" and discusses the 18th-century formation of such themes and disciplines as aesthetics, philosophical anthropology, philosophy of history, the nature of myth and attempts to account for it, and hermeneutics.

Act and Being, written in 1929-1930 as Bonhoeffer's second dissertation, deals with the questions of consciousness and conscience in theology from the perspective of the Reformation insight about the origin of human sinfulness in the "heart turned in upon itself and thus open neither to the revelation of God nor to the encounter with the neighbor." Here, therefore, we find Bonhoeffer's thoughts about power, revelation, otherness, theological method, and theological anthropology.

Long overshadowed by the apostle Paul, Peter has received increased scholarly attention of late. Building on that resurgence of interest, nineteen internationally prominent scholars of early Christian history examine and reassess the historical Peter and his significance in Christian texts from the first three centuries. Giving due attention to archaeological data and recent scholarship, the contributors offer a comprehensive view of Peter through analysis of both New Testament texts and later, noncanonical literature. Markus Bockmuehl concludes the volume by considering present-day questions about the role of Peter, popes, and church leadership.
