In Eine runde Sache reisen zwei Künstler aus zwei unterschiedlichen Jahrhunderten durch sprachliche und kulturelle Räume und sind immerzu in Bewegung. Fremdheitserfahrungen, Identität, das Leben als Künstler und jede Menge Politik sind die großen Themen des Romans, in dem sich die beiden Handlungsstränge gegenseitig spiegeln. Zuerst schickt sich Tomer Gardi selbst, auf Deutsch verfasst, als literarische Figur mit dem sprechenden Deutschen Schäferhund Rex und dem Elfen- oder gar Erlkönig an seiner Seite auf eine fantastisch-abenteuerliche Odyssee. Slapstickartig, komisch und mit vielen unterschwelligen Nadelstichen peitscht der Wind in die Segel. Im zweiten Teil des Romans, übersetzt aus dem Hebräischen, folgen wir dem im 19. Jahrhundert lebenden indonesischen Maler Raden Saleh von Java durch Europa und zurück nach Asien – ein historischer Roman und zugleich ein Abbild unserer Zeit. Virtuos spielt Tomer Gardi mit Sprachen. Mit all seiner Originalität und dem Überbordwerfen konventioneller Romankonzeptionen löst er auch die Krux mit der Wahl der Sprache, die sein literarisches Ich martert. Sagt es zu Beginn des Romans doch, »dass ich ein Idee für eine Geschichte habe, weiß aber nicht, ob ich es auf Hebräisch schreiben soll, oder auf meinem Deutsch. (…) Jeder Stimme wird ja was anderes und unterschiedliches Ausdrücken können. Andere und unterschiedliche Fantasien entwickeln, von andere und unterschiedliche Lebenserfahrungen erzählen können. (…) Und wie kann ich entscheiden?«

Most existing table tennis teams never play each other as a team. "Triples" for the first time allows three-person teams to play "serious" table tennis. The book explains its rationale, equipment and its manufacture, its rules, and its integration into existing table tennis events. It strives to enhance the already popular image of table tennis by adding a "true team sport" to its repertoire, thereby increasing its player, spectator and media appeal. Part 1 establishes the theoretical basis of Triples and provides detailed information on the design and manufacture of its hardware. In analysing its geometrical and physical aspects, it shows that playing conditions in Triples are equivalent to or better than in the conventional game - e.g. a greater action space and shot variety. Hence various novel table and net designs are described, including a reversible rectangular-to-round "retrofit" table tennis table system. Part 3 provides a glimpse into the future. It describes how Triples equipment can be used to create interesting new practice and recreational games, including 4-player "Quadruples", and how electronic sensors and computerised displays will soon lead to the "intelligent table tennis table".
