Sin pretender enmendar la plana al autor o autores de La Biblia: ¿Quién merecía más los castigos divinos: la acción de Caín, hombre, por matar a su hermano con premeditación y alevosía, o la de Eva, mujer, por comer un fruto para alcanzar la sabiduría? ¿Si Dios había creado al hombre (¿y a la mujer?) a su imagen y semejanza, ¿cómo es que no poseían ya la ciencia del bien y del mal? ¿Creemos en Dios porque existe o existe porque creemos en Él? ¿Quién crea a quién? ¿El creyente al creador o el creador al creyente? ¿Pensó Jesús en fundar una Iglesia? ¿O fue San Pablo, y no Pedro, el que la puso en marcha? ¿Cómo es que Jesús designo como primer Papa a San Pedro, a sabiendas de que estaba casado (¡hasta vivía la suegra!), y ahora ni los sacerdotes se pueden casar ni los casados pueden ser sacerdotes? El evangelio habla de los hermanos y hermanas de Jesús. Si hubiera sido así, ¿serían hijastros del Espíritu Santo y hermanastros de Jesús? ¿Cómo se puede ser virgen y madre de un Dios eterno? ¿Hay que revisar el diccionario o las creencias? ¿José y María funcionaban como los demás matrimonios o se impusieron sus restricciones? ¿En la otra vida, continuaremos siendo hijos de nuestros padres, padres de nuestros hijos, etc., etc.? Si la Virgen María fue sin pecado concebida, ¿nosotros fuimos con pecado concebidos? ¿Se transmite también el pecado original a través de la fecundación in vitro? Si resucitamos con el mismo cuerpo que tuvimos; ¿los cojos continuarán cojos, con artrosis...? San Pablo escribió bajo inspiración divina: La mujer aprenda sosegadamente, en entera subordinación; no permito (sic) a las mujeres que enseñen; ni que dominen al varón, sino que han de estar en quietud (1 Timoteo 2;11-15). ¿No es este un párrafo de los que al llegar al final te preguntas: ¿He leído bien?; ¿está escrito lo que he entendido? Pues sí; pone lo que se entiende, aunque no se entienda que lo piense ni que lo diga. De esto, y mucho más, va este libro y los otros dos que componen la trilogía: ¿Razonas, dudas, crees? Reflexiono, dudo y pregunto. Formulo más de 2000 preguntas a lo largo de la trilogía. No doy respuestas; yo, como los posibles lectores y lectoras, las buscamos y esperamos de quienes nos las generaron. Soy consciente de que la duda es un estadio, una puerta abierta hacia la certeza y la sabiduría. La duda, tal como decía Aristóteles: es el principio de la sabiduría; O como dijo Nuccio Ordine: la duda no es enemiga de la verdad, sino un estímulo constante para encontrarla. Por estas y otras razones, que quedan explicitadas en estas páginas y en cada caso, me he cuestionado muchas de mis creencias e intento llegar a la verdad. Porque, como Rabindranath Tagore, pienso que: Quien cierra la puerta a la duda deja fuera la verdad. La puerta queda abierta, no lo dudes.
