Pornographie ist längst ein allgegenwärtiges Phänomen der Alltags- und Populärkultur: Darstellungen von Sexualitäten und dem sexuellen Körper (das Suffix ›-graphie‹ weist auf diesen abbildenden und inszenierenden Charakter hin) durch Sprache, Zeichen und Bilder finden sich bereits zu jeder Zeit und in jeder Kultur, seit dem 20. Jahrhundert dann aber natürlich vor allem in Fotographie und Film. Hierbei haben sich über die Jahrhunderte in Europa mal dezidierte Schreibstrategien herausgebildet, um der Zensur zu entkommen, mal Darstellungskonventionen eines ›männlichen Blicks‹ etabliert – Ästhetiken der Pornographie, die sich auf einem engen Grat zwischen der ›kunstvollen‹ Erotik und dem ›verruchten‹ Obszönen bewegen. A Badge of Injury is a contribution to both the fields of queer and global history. It analyses gay and lesbian transregional cultural communication networks from the 1970s to the 2000s, focusing on the importance of National Socialism, visual culture, and memory in the queer Atlantic. Provincializing Euro-American queer history, it illustrates how a history of concepts which encompasses the visual offers a greater depth of analysis of the transfer of ideas across regions than texts alone would offer. It also underlines how gay and lesbian history needs to be reframed under a queer lens and understood in a global perspective. Following the journey of the Pink Triangle and its many iterations, A Badge of Injury pinpoints the roles of cultural memory and power in the creation of gay and lesbian transregional narratives of pride or the construction of the historical queer subject. Untersucht werden Motive und literarische Verfahren des Depressiven, depressive Figuren und einschlägige Inszenierungen der Autor:innen. Die literarischen Manifestationen des Depressiven und der Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts entstehende Depressionsdiskurs werden als historisch wandelbare Phänomene begriffen. So erstreckt sich der Beobachtungszeitraum des Bandes von der Jahrhundertwende bis in die Gegenwart. Dabei wird nach einer spezifisch modernen ‚Verfasstheit‘ im Zeichen der Depression und ihren ästhetischen Repräsentationen gefragt. In den einzelnen Beiträgen werden neben Texten der Gegenwartsliteratur (von Autor/innen wie Wolfgang Herrndorf, Michael Köhlmeier, Benjamin Maack, Thomas Melle, Terézia Mora, Leif Randt, Kathrin Röggla und David Foster Wallace) vor allem Werke des frühen 20. Und warum fehlt in den Sachwort-Verzeichnissen marxistisch orientierter Psychologen meist das Wort "Sexualität"? Der langjährige Bundestagsabgeordnete Diether Dehm folgt in seinem neuen Buch nicht nur der Pornographie-Geschichte seit der Antike, sondern behandelt auch die aktuelle Debatte. Die materialistische Psychologie erklärt, wie Arbeit und Geschichte die einzelne Persönlichkeit werden lassen. Die Organisierung menschlicher Tätigkeiten ist von der Ausrichtung der Gefühle, sogar von der Formatierung der Triebe und von der Reparatur psychosomatischer Beschädigungen nicht zu trennen. Eine "unpolitische" Therapie betrügt sich also um ihr Potenzial. Der Autor kommt mit seiner Analyse Leerstellen im Marxismus auf die Spur – soweit diese das Subjekt im Klassenkampf betreffen. Antonio Gramscis Satz "Die Natur des Menschen ist seine Geschichte" versucht Dehm in einer Analogie zu veranschaulichen: "Triebe ('animal spirits' nach Marx) werden im Menschen historisch völlig neu formatiert, wie durch eine Espressomaschine, wonach in der Tasse weder Kaffeebohnen noch Wasser voneinander getrennt zu schmecken sind." Schlusssatz: Wer asoziale Pornographie überwinden will, braucht dazu nicht nur bessere Pornographie, sondern sozialere Verhältnisse.
