Durant les annees 1970 et 1980, la creation litteraire en Ontario francais connait une vitalite sans precedent: les ecrivains sont de plus en plus nombreux, les troupes theatrales se multiplient, des maisons d edition voient le jour. Il n est pas etonnant, des lors, de voir la critique lui emboiter le pas au cours des annees 1990. Si, au depart, les chercheurs se consacraient a mettre en place des outils de recherche bibliographies, anthologies, histoires, ils etudient a present les uvres pour elles-memes. Les dix-sept textes reunis dans -Themes et Variations- s inscrivent dans cette tradition. Ils ont comme point d origine le colloque eponyme tenu a Hearst (Ontario) en avril-mai 2004. Le colloque s etait donne comme objectif de cerner de plus pres l evolution de la litterature de l Ontario francais et la nature des uvres, ce que les chercheurs ont fait, tantot en reperant des themes recurrents dans un ensemble d uvres l espace, l identite, l amour, l ecriture ou encore en analysant les textes d un ecrivain afin d en degager les principaux themes. This book examines men, masculinities and sexualities in Western theatrical dance, offering insights into the processes, actions and interactions that occur in dance institutions around gender-transgressive acts, and the factors that set limits to transgression. This text uses interview and observation data to analyze the conditions that encourage some boys and young men to become involved in this widely unconventional activity, and the ways through which they negotiate the gendered and sexual attachments of their professional identity. Most importantly, the book analyzes the opportunities male dancers find to develop a reflexive habitus, engage in gender transgressive acts and experiment with their sexuality. At the same time, it approaches gender and sexuality as embodied, and therefore as parts of identity that are not as easily amendable. This book will be of interest to scholars in Gender and Sexuality Studies as well as Dance and Performance Studies.

The Latin vocabulary of intellectual life in the Middle Ages has been the focus of the CIVICIMA-series: nine volumes of conference-proceedings, monographs and collective works. The series has proved convincingly that analyses of the verbal expressions of medieval intellectual life and their precise meanings is a worthwhile and rewarding task, which sharpens and deepens our understanding of education and learning in the medieval world. With this tenth volume the series has been brought to a conclusion. It serves as a handbook, a practical tool for finding information and material about a considerable number of key terms, which have been classified in four categories of technical vocabulary--terms that developed specialized meanings in the context of medieval education and learning. The first category consists of the vocabulary of schools and universities (for instance, schola, magister, universitas, etc.); the second the vocabulary of the book and book production (for instance, armarium, pecia, scriptorium, etc.); the third treats the vocabulary of teaching-methods, instruments and products of intellectual life (for instance, concordantia, disputatio, glossa, etc.); the fourth the names of the disciplines, their teachers and students (for instance, artes liberales, canonista, decretista, theologia, etc.). Terms from these four categories are treated, either individually or in groups coherent with respect to content, in short and uniform articles. Their medieval meanings are described, together with their origins, their classical meanings, their semantic development, and the historical or regional differences in meaning.
