Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Psychologie - Sozialpsychologie, Note: 1,0, Universität Duisburg-Essen (Institut für Kognition und Kommunikation), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Wenn Menschen eine Entscheidung treffen, suchen sie dafür vorrangig nach Informationen, die ihre getroffene Vorentscheidung unterstützen und vernachlässigen dabei solche, die dieser widersprechen. Diese Arbeit geht der Frage nach, wie unterschiedliche Beraterverantwortlichkeiten, nämlich Ergebnis- und Prozessverantwortlichkeit, Einfluss auf die Ausgewogenheit der Informationssuche ausüben. In dem vorliegenden Experiment sollten die Probanden aus der Beraterperspektive ein konkretes Entscheidungsproblem für einen fiktiven Kunden lösen. Dabei zeigte sich, dass ergebnisverantwortliche im Gegensatz zu prozessverantwortlichen Beratern eine selektive Informationssuche zu Gunsten der eigenen Vorauswahl betrieben. Darüber hinaus konnte ein Zusammenhang zwischen der Ausgewogenheit der Informationssuche und der Erinnerungsleistung von Beratern festgestellt werden: Je ausgeglichener die Berater nach Informationen suchten, desto höher war die Gesamtanzahl erinnerter Informationen. Auch der von den Beratern empfundene Stress hing tendenziell mit der Ausgeglichenheit ihrer Informationssuche zusammen: Je stärker sich ein Berater unter Druck gesetzt fühlte, desto ausgewogener war seine Informationssuche. Genauigkeits-, Verteidigungs- und Eindruckmotivation standen in keinem signifikanten Zusammenhang mit der Ausgewogenheit der Informationssuche. Theoretische und praktische Implikationen werden diskutiert.
