Spiritual leader Leo Booth knows that many of us are searching for ways to move beyond trauma, beyond old messages, and beyond the limitations of obsessive behavior. Inspired by his numerous workshops, The Wisdom of Letting Go seeks to answer the complicated question "How do we let go of the unhealthy situations in life that weigh us down and keep us from living in the moment?" With thought-provoking quotes, anecdotal essays, and comforting prayers, The Wisdom of Letting Go guides the reader toward a path of personal development through forgiveness and acceptance of oneself and others. Booth offers healing advice and inspirational messages on matters of love, codependency, spirituality, separation, divorce, sex, sickness, death, racism, and violence. "Letting go," says Leo Booth, "does not mean we don't care. Letting go is discovering a path beyond the pain, beyond the conflict. Letting go is finding a way to live life." Clearly, there is wisdom in letting go, and this book endeavors to show its readers how to do it.

Forms Of Feeling written by Robert F. Hobson and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-08-21 with Psychology categories.

First published in 1985. This book is aimed at readers who wish to learn how to engage in psychotherapy: for beginners, for experienced practitioners, for disciplined research workers, as for the author, the word 'psychotherapy' has a very broad meaning. The author describes this as an 'autobiography': the development of ideas, attitudes, and meanings which have arisen and been transformed through joy, sorrow, chaos, and relative tranquillity in a journey of forty years through the world of academic psychiatry, of analytical psychotherapy, of scientific research, and of life in a therapeutic community. To a large extent this book is an expression of individual experience.

New Approaches To Jesus And The Gospels written by Royce G. Gruenler and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-05-12 with Religion categories.

The approaches of contemporary New Testament scholarship to Jesus and the Gospels have been, in Royce Gordon Gruenler's view, inadequate. Instead, he offers some imaginative and well-articulated reflections on several new and promising approaches. These "have meant a great deal to me over the past few years," he writes, "since in fact I had a change of personal commitment from a former liberalism which had run dry, to the rediscovery of the vitality of my earlier evangelical heritage." This change was precipitated by "the investigation of the data" that this provocative volume details. Gruenler employs a phenomenology of persons, borrowed from Wittgenstein, to highlight the fundamental claims of Jesus. Though limiting himself to the core of sayings accepted by radical critics as authentic, the author concludes that Jesus' concept of himself is so incredible on any human level that it becomes academic to insist on separating his implicit from his explicit christological claims. The use of redaction criticism to distinguish the two, therefore, is misguided. Marshaled in support are Lewis, who urges attentiveness and obedience to the story; Ramsey, who points to the "logically odd" supernaturalism of the Gospels; Polanyi, the tacit dimension of trust; Marcel, Jesus' creative fidelity; Tolkien, the spell of the story; and Van Til, the importance of presuppositions in Gospel research.

Dictionary Of Twentieth Century British Philosophers written by Stuart Brown and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-06-01 with Philosophy categories.

This is a two-volume work with entries on individuals who made some contribution to philosophy in the period 1900 to 1960 or soon after. The entries deal with the whole philosophical work of an individual or, in the case of philosophers still living, their whole work to date. Typically the individuals included have been born by 1935 and by now have made their main contributions. Contributions to the subject typically take the form of books or journal articles, but influential teachers and people otherwise important in the world of philosophy may also be included. The dictionary includes amateurs as well as professional philosophers and, where appropriate, thinkers whose main discipline was outside philosophy. There are special problems about the term "British" in the twentieth century, partly because of human migration, partly because of decolonialization and the changing denotation of the term. The intention has been to include not only those who were British subjects at least for a significant part of their lives (even if they mostly lived outside what is now the U.K.) but also people who spent a significant part of their lives in Britain itself, irrespective of their nationality or country of origin. In the first category are included, for instance, a number of people who were born and educated in Britain but who subsequently taught in universities abroad. In the second category are included those who were born elsewhere but who came to Britain and contributed to its philosophical culture.

Western Culture In Gospel Context written by David J. Kettle and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-04-18 with Religion categories.

Approaching us in sovereign freedom, God comes alive to us, we come alive to God, and all creation comes alive as a sign pointing to God. In the gospel of Jesus Christ, God gives and discloses himself in this immediate way as our ultimate context and host, within the provisional medium of creation. This life-giving gospel is met by blindness, however, among those who live today in a collapsing Western culture. This is because their imaginative world is shaped by habitual assumptions and practices that lie--largely unacknowledged--deep within that culture, and that preclude openness to the gospel. Moreover, Western Christians themselves widely share these assumptions, betraying the gospel into cultural captivity. God calls for the conversion of Western culture to the living gospel. Crucially this must include, as Lesslie Newbigin recognized, a repentance from modern Western assumptions about knowledge. Part One explores seeking, knowing, and serving God, as providing a true paradigm for understanding all human enquiry, knowledge, and action. Part Two examines ten resulting "hot spots" where conversion from prevailing cultural assumptions is vital for authentic mission to Western culture.

Problems Of Faith written by S.H. Smith and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-07-11 with Religion categories.

The material here was originally intended as a third section in Smiths previous offering, The Problem of God, but took on a life of its own to become a separate work. The Problem of Faith is thus a sequel to the former work and deals with those questions with which all thinking believers wrestle: the nature of religious language, evil and the God of love, the concept of miracles and of prayer, the relationship between faith and reason, life after death, and the problem of hell. The aim is to encourage the reader to engage afresh with these essential issues.
