Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Kommunikation, Note: 1,0, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (Kommunikationswissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Intergruppenkommunikation, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: „Wir sind ein Volk“ – diese vier Worte avancierten im Herbst 1989 zum Schlachtruf einer geteilten Nation und brachten mit ihrer Symbolkraft buchstäblich Mauern zum Einstürzen. Die 1949 in Folge der machtpolitischen Auseinandersetzungen zwischen den Westlichen Alliierten und der Sowjetunion gegründeten zwei deutschen Staaten BRD und DDR unterlagen in den darauf folgenden 40 Jahren nicht allein einer geografischen sondern vielmehr einer ideologischen Trennung. Individualistisch geprägter Kapitalismus und kollektivistisch geprägter Sozialismus standen sich unvereinbar gegenüber. Auf dieser Basis wurde nach anhaltenden Protesten und dem Zusammenbruch des politischen Systems in der DDR am 3. Oktober 1989 die deutsche Wiedervereinigung feierlich vollzogen. Handelte es sich hierbei jedoch wirklich um die Zusammenführung von Menschen einer Kultur oder hatte die Teilung zu tiefe Spuren in den Köpfen hinterlassen? Die Antwort auf diese Frage und die daraus resultierenden Konsequenzen für die deutsche Bevölkerung sollen im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit geklärt werden. Hierbei werden aus wissenschaftspragmatischen Gründen die 1990er als Untersuchungszeitraum festgelegt. Zur Klärung des kulturellen Aufeinandertreffens zweier Gruppen soll das Konzept der Akkulturation vorgestellt und auf den vorliegenden historischen Sachverhalt angewendet werden. Im nachfolgenden Kapitel werden zunächst die theoretischen Grundlagen geklärt. Dabei soll einleitend die dieser Untersuchung zugrunde liegende Arbeitsdefinition des Kulturbegriffes vorgestellt werden. Nach einer allgemeinen Definition des Akkulturationsprozesses, folgt die Vorstellung des Akkulturations-konzeptes nach Berry. Im Rahmen des dritten Kapitels soll, basierend auf diesem theoretischen Konzept, geklärt werden, inwiefern die deutsche Wiedervereinigung als Akkulturationsprozess klassifiziert werden kann und wie dieser gestaltet ist. Das vierte und letzte Kapitel fasst die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse dieser Arbeit überblickshaft zusammen.
