When Walter Owen Bentley founded his namesake marque in London, over one hundred years ago, neither he nor anyone else could have imagined the impact his vision would have on the automotive and racing industries for decades to come. From 1919 until this very day, Bentley has always strived to follow the creed of its founder: To not only build a fast and good car, but to build the best in its class. From this principle, an automotive treasure trove of engineering supremacy has issued forth from England, forever securing Bentley as the definitive British luxury car company within the international consciousness. Following on the heels of Be Extraordinary: The Spirit of Bentley , which celebrated today’s tribe of Bentley adherents and personalities, as well as the company’s innovative ideas for the future, Assouline presents yet another fascinating volume dedicated to the preeminent British car brand— Bentley: 100 . Housed in a hand-stitched leather bound, limited edition case, this all-inclusive work presents an exhaustive list of the one hundred single most important and groundbreaking Bentley models, with detailed critiques and explanations relating to each automobile’s unique engineering excellence and the various creative avenues Bentley may have taken during the manufacturing process. From the 1924 3-Litre, the first Bentley to win Le Mans; to the 1959 S2, the first to feature a V8 engine; all the way up to the stunning 2018 Continental GT, this book is a decisive list of all the masterful models that have helped Bentley become the dominant and illustrious luxury car manufacturer that it is today.

* A luxurious journey into the powerful world of the Bentley brand. * An inspiration for anyone interested in automotive excellence. Bentley is a brand that is rich in history but forward thinking and innovative. This is the company that created a Le Mans winner and a state limousine in the same year. Their 200 mph vehicles contain the handstitching of fine leather and of high glossed veneers from 80-year-old trees; as well as the latest in-car technologies. For Bentley there is no contradiction between supreme luxury and sheer exhilaration. This was James Bond's first car, the record-setting ride of the Bentley Boys, the vision of founder W. O. Bentley - "a fast car, a good car, the best in its class" - and a vision that is still unfolding. Here is a grand tour through one of automotive's truly distinctive brands. ILLUSTRATIONS: 250 colour and black and white photographs.

In this Caldecott Medal–winning picture book, the true story of Wilson Bentley and his singular fascination with snowflakes is rendered in rich prose and gorgeous artwork, perfect for the holidays, snow days, and everyday. Wilson Bentley was always fascinated by snow. In childhood and adulthood, he saw each tiny crystal of a snowflake as a little miracle and wanted to understand them. His parents supported his curiosity and saved until they could give him his own camera and microscope. At the time, his enthusiasm was misunderstood. But with patience and determination, Wilson catalogued hundreds of snowflake photographs, gave slideshows of his findings and, when he was 66, published a book of his photos. His work became the basis for all we know about beautiful, unique snowflakes today. This biographical tribute to a very special farmer is the perfect holiday gift or snow day read.

The two decades between 1945 and 1965 saw some remarkable motor cars emerge from the new Rolls-Royce factory at Crewe. The Mark VI Bentley was the first model to be built entirely by Rolls-Royce, using a body supplied by Pressed Steel, although coachbuilt cars were still available. The Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn version followed in 1949, this and its Bentley sister both receiving 'big boot' bodies in 1952. Meanwhile the 120mph Continental appeared. The entirely new Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud and Bentley S-series, almost identical to each other, arrived in 1955, and from 1959 a V8 was installed. By their side, coachbuilt S-series Continentals continued. Original Rolls-Royce & Bentley 1946-65 is the essential companion to these cars. The aim of this book is to reveal, in words and color photographs, how the various models altered through the course of production. Drawing on factory records, parts lists, catalogs and other data, the author has provided a meticulous survey of the standard steel cars built at Crewe. Over 250 specially commissioned color photographs, showing the detail changes to these cars, accompany the authoritative text.
