From 1964 to 1990, Keld Helmer-Petersen taught photography at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art's School of Architecture. During this period he also had his own studio, working on assignments for architects and designers. Most of his early architectural negatives are now in the Library, which is Denmark's main subject library on architecture and the visual arts, including photography as a fine art. Helmer-Petersen is personally responsible for the selection and presentation of his photographs. This book may be seen as an extension of his two earlier publications, 122 Farvefotografier/122 Colour Photographs (1948) and Fragments of a City (1960). It meets a long-felt need for a wider survey of his work and development over the past forty years.
