Im vorliegenden Buch werden die Hintergründe des dramatischen Baugeschehens vorgestellt und die angebliche Perfektion entlarvt. In einem gesonderten Kapitel wird auf den Bunker im Garten der Reichskanzlei eingegangen. Zahlreiches historisches Bildmaterial illustriert die Geschichte des Ortes, zugleich werden die Legenden darüber umfassend widerlegt.
