Our 2022 survey of 125 senior US port and maritime terminal executives looked at cyber preparedness and data security threats facing facilities responsible for handling the vast majority of the goods that move into, out of, and across the United States by water. In developing the survey, we drew on CISA’s evaluation of port facility cybersecurity risks,6 which include the following key areas of concern: facility access; terminal headquarters (data); terminal headquarters (ransomware); OT systems; positioning, navigation, and timing; and vessels.
