Il volume “ricuce” (Resartus) una di queste esistenze straordinarie, intessuta di follia e ragione, di illuminazioni geniali e malintesi accecanti. Aby M. Warburg – che amava definirsi “ebreo di sangue, amburghese di cuore, fiorentino d'anima” – visse il crepuscolo del XIX secolo e l’alba sanguinosa del XX. In questa epoca di incredibili capovolgimenti, egli scrisse alcuni saggi, colmi di erudite divagazioni e neologismi; creò un Atlante figurato, incompiuto e soffuso di un’aura misteriosa; costruì una Biblioteca, tuttora meta di storici dell’arte e della cultura, ma anche di studiosi di molte altre discipline (Antropologia, Astrologia, Filologia, Psicologia, ecc.) di cui aveva valicato le frontiere per comprendere la complessità del mondo.
