Fue alrededor de los ocho años de edad cuando descubrí mi gusto por la poesía. Habrá sido un día de las madres, hace ya tantos años, un poema en un pedazo de hoja de cuaderno, el primer poema que escribí y lo use como regalo a mi madre. Con ese primer asomo al mundo poético llegaron a mí diversas sensaciones, todas hermosas, esas de satisfacción, orgullo, alegría, todo por haber escrito aquel simple y primer poema. La poesía son emociones, nace de las emociones, crea emociones, ansía emociones, se nutre de ellas. No hay poesía sin esas emociones, sin las experiencias, sin las personas o las cosas que son capaces de despertar la inspiración en nosotros. Por eso cada poema incluye la esencia de quienes nos inspiraron a escribirlo.Pasaron 6 años desde el primer poema que escribí al segundo. Aquel segundo poema. Recuerdo el día que lo terminé, mis jueces primeros, mis padres, lo leyeron, les gusto, fue suficiente eso para mí para continuar. A veces con versos tan simples en poemas sin pasión, otras tantas veces en poemas con la pasión de una vida impresa en ellos.No se escribe poesía sin conocer el amor, la pasión, alegría, y, muy importante, el miedo. Porque cada poema incluye varios o todos estos sentimientos, y más. Porque el miedo, en mi caso, es lo que ahora me hace publicar una parte de mi vida.De eso se trata esta obra, de los miedos, mis miedos, de sentirlos y vencerlos. Aunados con mis sueños de escribir iba la sentencia de mi padre: "¿Para qué escribir?". Hoy se la respuesta de esa pregunta, tal vez la he sabido siempre: Porque me gusta. Con esta obra venzo el miedo infundado, el creado, el dormido. Venzo el miedo de publicar una obra durmiente, siempre anhelante de respirar, de vivir. Venzo el miedo de mostrar mi poesía, esa que no escribí para nadie ni para nada, solo para mí, para mis ratos, para mis fantasmas, y que hoy quedará a la disposición de todos los fantasmas de aquellos que la lean.Aquí dejo mis primeras creaciones, los primeros poemas, aquellos que escribí en mi adolescencia, en la primavera de la vida y el invierno de la infancia. En donde la mezcla es perfecta entre la ignorancia de vivir y los sueños por hacerlo. Dejo las primeras lágrimas del amor, las primeras luces de la inspiración, los primeros sentimientos, la primera parte de mi vida. Aquí les dejo aquello que no sé hacer pero que me gusta hacer: mis poemas.Sin más, sin mayores preámbulos y falsos triunfalismos, les dejo lo mejor de la primera parte de mi vida. This book breaks new ground in considering the nature and function of anthologies of poetry and short stories in twentieth-century Portugal. It tackles the main theoretical issues, identifies a significant body of critical writing on the relationship between anthologies, literary history and the canon, and proposes an approach that might be designated Descriptive Anthology Studies. The author aims to achieve a full understanding of the role of anthologies in the literary polysystem. Moreover, this study considers anthologies published in Portugal in the early years of the twentieth-century, the influential figures who made them, the works they selected, and who read them. It also focuses on the principal publishing houses of the 1940s and 50s, and how their literary directors shaped public taste and promoted intercultural transfer. The author reveals tensions between conservative, nostalgic anthologies that promote an idyllic vision of rural Portugal, and collections of poems that question and challenge the status quo, whether in respect of the colonial wars or repressed female sexuality. The last part of the book explores anthology production in the period following the Revolution of 1974, observing the co-existence of traditional anthologising activity with new trends and innovations, and noting the role of women, both as anthologists and anthology items.
