In July 1983 James Morgan Kane returned home in the evening to find a corpse in his living room. Fearing that he would be blamed and sensing that his wife was somehow involved, he wanted to do all to protect his young family. Jamie worked through the night to dispose of the body all the while disbelieving the situation he found himself in. His luck ran out days later as he was arrested and sentenced to 13 years in prison. Jamie entered the U.S. prison system and was to stay there for 34 years with stints in San Quentin, Folsom State Prison and the notorious Deuel Vocational Institution (DVI) in California. He would rub shoulders with some of the world's most infamous serial killers such as Charles Manson, Edmund Kemper, Charles Tex Watson and Herbie Mullin as well as gangs such as the Aryan Brotherhood and Mexican cartels. This book tells of his time: locked up with no hope of release, living the brutality of the unforgiving penitentiary system and finding his new purpose in life, as well as tales of his many run-ins with some of the world's most dangerous inmates.

Think about the most wretched day of your life. Maybe it was when someone you loved died, or when you were badly hurt in an accident, or a day when you were so terrified you could scarcely bear it. No imagine 4,000 of those days in one big chunk. In 1978, Warren Fellows was convicted in Thailand of heroin trafficking and was sentenced to life imprisonment. The Damage Done is his story of an unthinkable nightmare in a place where sewer rats and cockroaches are the only nutritious food, and where the worst punishment is the khun deo - solitary confinement, Thai style. Fellows was certainly guilty of his crime, but he endured and survived human-rights abuses beyond imagination. This is not his plea for forgiveness, nor his denial of guilt; it is the story of an ordeal that no one would wish on their worst enemy. It is an essential read: heartbreaking, fascinating and impossible to put down.

Confederate General Lloyd Tilghman written by James W. Raab and has been published by McFarland this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-08-29 with History categories.

Lloyd Tilghman was a man of distinguished family. His forefathers, men of rank during colonial times, included Matthew Tilghman, who helped frame Maryland's constitution, Chief Justice William Tilghman of Pennsylvania and Lieutenant Colonel Tench C. Tilghman, George Washington's military secretary. Trained at West Point, Lloyd Tilghman originally resigned his commission in 1836. However, with the onset of the Mexican conflict--a veritable training ground for the War Between the States--in 1846, Tilghman rejoined the army as an aide-de-camp to General David E. Twiggs. When the ultimate question was posed almost two decades later, Tilghman, a Southern sympathizer with decidedly Northern ties, followed his moral dictates and joined the Confederate cause. Relying heavily on contemporary sources such as newspapers and periodicals, this biography chronicles the life of Brigadier General Lloyd Tilghman, a gallant Confederate commander and staunch defender of states' rights. While covering Tilghman's entire career, including his service during the Mexican War and his contributions to the construction of the Panama railroad, the work concentrates primarily on his Civil War years and 1863 death. The book details the military movements in which he was involved with the stated goal of informing the reader about the battles that took place between the Appalachian Mountains and the Mississippi River and the extraordinary generals who fought them. Extensive maps, illustrations and contemporary photographs are included. The work is also indexed.
