"I never searched for Enlightenment. I just searched for happiness. I searched for the ability to love those who loved me. I didn't know that the search would lead to Enlightenment. It was a terrifying lightning strike that came suddenly one night, a little over a year ago. An event that would change my life forever. I quickly realized that Enlightenment would be a destructive force if I did not heal my personal wounds. I didn't know where to start the search or how to find what needed to be healed, but my awareness would not let me fool myself. It would not let me get away with anything. My awareness was going after my own ass, and it forced me into isolation and into cleaning up my own mess, mixed with generation after generation of inherited wounds, programs, traumas, judgmental views and opinions, social norms, pressure, and paradigms. That's what this journey is about. The 369 stories in this book are a part of that healing journey. The journey started on my Instagram stories through Q&A's. One day I woke up and something in me made me post an IG story "Ask Me a Question." I was shaking, sweating, and my heart was pounding hard. It was anxiety and fear and I had never had anxiety before. I feared what I was about to discover. I knew that I no longer was able to lie to myself and every question that I answered would be as honest as I possibly could be. I was not going to show myself any mercy. I decided to strip down to my bare soul by putting myself out there to be asked, questioned, judged, tested, observed, attacked, but also loved, triggered, cheered for, and supported by so many wonderful souls. Each day was a new story and a new battle I had to fight. Each day was a new discovery. The growth was painful and silent, but the victories were rewarding and loud. 369 Stories are a part of that journey and a part of my discoveries during my "pilgrim year." It's a combination of my personal confessions, raw conversations with my followers, their stories that were inspired by my stories, my discoveries of everything helpful that I could find within the indoctrination and within the esoteric side of knowledge that could help me find any answers that would let my fear and pain disappear. Every story is unrelated, but connected. Regardless of how you read this book or what story you start with first, you will be able to follow that journey. Each story is related to specific discoveries and events, but there is no particular order. Buckle up for an exciting ride." - Binais

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the indie rock sensation known as Japanese Breakfast, an unforgettable memoir about family, food, grief, love, and growing up Korean American—“in losing her mother and cooking to bring her back to life, Zauner became herself” (NPR). • CELEBRATING OVER ONE YEAR ON THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER LIST In this exquisite story of family, food, grief, and endurance, Michelle Zauner proves herself far more than a dazzling singer, songwriter, and guitarist. With humor and heart, she tells of growing up one of the few Asian American kids at her school in Eugene, Oregon; of struggling with her mother's particular, high expectations of her; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother's tiny apartment in Seoul, where she and her mother would bond, late at night, over heaping plates of food. As she grew up, moving to the East Coast for college, finding work in the restaurant industry, and performing gigs with her fledgling band--and meeting the man who would become her husband--her Koreanness began to feel ever more distant, even as she found the life she wanted to live. It was her mother's diagnosis of terminal cancer, when Michelle was twenty-five, that forced a reckoning with her identity and brought her to reclaim the gifts of taste, language, and history her mother had given her. Vivacious and plainspoken, lyrical and honest, Zauner's voice is as radiantly alive on the page as it is onstage. Rich with intimate anecdotes that will resonate widely, and complete with family photos, Crying in H Mart is a book to cherish, share, and reread.

Pabongka Rinpoche was one the twentieth century's most charismatic and revered Tibetan lamas, and in Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand we can see why. In this famous twenty-four-day teaching on the lamrim, or stages of the path, Pabongka Rinpoche weaves together lively stories and quotations with frank observations and practical advice to move readers step by step along the journey to buddhahood. When his student Trijang Rinpoche first edited and published these teachings in Tibetan, an instant classic was born. The flavor and immediacy of the original Tibetan are preserved in Michael Richards' fluid and lively translation, which is now substantially revised in this new edition.

A sweeping tale of revolution and wonder in a world not quite like our own, A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians is a genre-defying story of magic, war, and the struggle for freedom in the early modern world. It is the Age of Enlightenment -- of new and magical political movements, from the necromancer Robespierre calling for a revolution in France, to the weather mage Toussaint L'Ouverture leading the slaves of Haiti in their fight for freedom, to the bold new Prime Minister William Pitt weighing the legalization of magic amongst commoners in Britain and abolition throughout its colonies overseas. But amidst all of the upheaval of the early modern world, there is an unknown force inciting all of human civilization into violent conflict. And it will require the combined efforts of revolutionaries, magicians, and abolitionists to unmask this hidden enemy before the whole world falls to darkness and chaos. Praise for A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians: "A rich, sprawling epic full of history and magic, Declaration is Jonathan Strange with international politics and vampires. I loved it."―Alix E. Harrow, Hugo Award-winning author "A witty, riveting historical fantasy...Parry has a historian's eye for period detail and weaves real figures from history-including Robespierre and Toussaint L'Ouverture-throughout her poetic tale of justice, liberation, and dark magic. This is a knockout."―Publishers Weekly (starred review) The Shadow Histories A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians A Radical Act of Free Magic For more from H. G. Too Like The Lightning written by Ada Palmer and has been published by Tor Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-10 with Fiction categories.

From the winner of the 2017 John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, Ada Palmer's 2017 Compton Crook Award-winning political science fiction, Too Like the Lightning, ventures into a human future of extraordinary originality Mycroft Canner is a convict. For his crimes he is required, as is the custom of the 25th century, to wander the world being as useful as he can to all he meets. Carlyle Foster is a sensayer--a spiritual counselor in a world that has outlawed the public practice of religion, but which also knows that the inner lives of humans cannot be wished away. The world into which Mycroft and Carlyle have been born is as strange to our 21st-century eyes as ours would be to a native of the 1500s. It is a hard-won utopia built on technologically-generated abundance, and also on complex and mandatory systems of labelling all public writing and speech. What seem to us normal gender distinctions are now distinctly taboo in most social situations. And most of the world's population is affiliated with globe-girdling clans of the like-minded, whose endless economic and cultural competition is carefully managed by central planners of inestimable subtlety. To us it seems like a mad combination of heaven and hell. To them, it seems like normal life. And in this world, Mycroft and Carlyle have stumbled on the wild card that may destablize the system: the boy Bridger, who can effortlessly make his wishes come true. Who can, it would seem, bring inanimate objects to life... Terra Ignota 1. Too Like the Lightning 2. Seven Surrenders 3. The Will to Battle At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.
