El mismo Sócrates, ya en épocas de antes de Cristo, decía "Los jóvenes hoy en día son unos tiranos. Contradicen a sus padres, devoran su comida, y les faltan al respeto a sus maestros". Su contemporáneo, Hipócrates también parecía estar de acuerdo: "Los jóvenes de hoy no parecen tener respeto alguno por el pasado ni esperanza alguna para el porvenir". Y unos siglos más tarde, Marco Tulio Cicerón afirmaba "Estos son malos tiempos. Los hijos han dejado de obedecer a sus padres y todo el mundo escribe libros". No. Los adolescentes de hoy no son peores que los de antes. Nuestra generación no era mejor que la de ellos. Nuestra música y nuestra moda no era superior (y si no me crees, mira tus fotos de cuando tenías diecisiete años y verás qué pintas tenías...) Aquí lo único que ha cambiado es que ahora estamos en el otro lado, que tenemos poca paciencia para la edad del pavo, y que bueno, francamente, ¡es que hay veces que no hay quien los aguante! Si tienes hijos adolescentes, seguro que has vivido alguna de las situaciones que se describen en este libro y por lo menos te consolará saber que no eres el único al que ignoran, contestan, desprecian o engañan. Claro, que saber eso no te ayuda a mejorar la situación, pero te alegrará saber que todos estos problemas tienen una solución. Se llama la edad.
