This is the sixth in Bill Wall's famous Chess Miniature series. Short games make it it quick and easy to study openings, tactics, traps and other essentials to improving your chess game!Ruy Lopez (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5), or Spanish Opening, is the most famous and popular of all chess openings and despite the extensive depth and length of opening analysis for over 450 years, it continues to be a popular opening among amateurs and grandmasters. Mastery of either side requires tactical alertness and strategic planning. Even today, chess masters quickly fall into traps and pitfalls arising from the Ruy Lopez. Here is a rich collection of over 600 such chess miniatures, with examples from chess kibitzers to grandmasters and world chess champions. These short games illustrate the swift punishment that follows from poor opening strategy or erroneous development. Miniatures in the Ruy Lopez – Main Line Another Great Book in the "Miniatures in the..." Series! The lines covered in this book, the Ruy Lopez – Main Lines, arise (with a few exceptions for move order and such) after 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Bb5 a6 4 Ba4 Nf6 5 0-0. The Ruy Lopez, or Spanish Opening if you like, is one of the oldest openings, named after a Spanish priest who first played it back in the 16th century. Needless to say, it has been played a few times since and remains a popular opening at all levels of play. Some of the lines are incredibly theoretical, but rather than burden you with a ton of theory in lines you will have limited chance of using in your own games, the emphasis is on the lines that are more likely to occur in your games. Those lines will be in chapters 3 and 4, the two longest chapters of the book. This book is by no means an all-encompassing theory work, which means that there is a lot of theory that is not discussed in the notes. This is of course intentional. The book is written to entertain and inspire. If you find some lines that you like, you are encouraged to dive deeper into those lines before using them in your own games. As for the games, they are typically between players with a rating of at least 2350 and often well more than that; you will find games between players rated above 2700 in this book. However, I have made some exceptions when a lower rated player beats a player rated above the magical 2350 number. To show the relative strength of the players, I have included the ELO rating of the players involved in the miniatures. A few games are of older date, but are otherwise as recent as 2015.

Chess Opening Blunders written by Bill Wall and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-14 with categories.

Whether you call it mistakes, goofs, faux pas, bad moves, or blunders, we all make them. An opening blunder is usually more than a small mistake or error that can be overcome by accurate play. It is usually a very bad miscalculation that often leads to a quick loss of the game. Opening blunders arise from the player not familiar with the opening and not seeing something obvious to prevent such a blunder. The thing is to learn from them. Great chess players study the mistakes of others in order to avoid them themselves. There is a strong correlation between blunders and strength of player or rating. The highly rated players blunder much less frequently than the lower-rated players, especially in the opening where the stronger player has more knowledge of traps and best play during the opening. This book is filled with hundreds of games categorized by openings that not only show you the blunders but show you the better moves. These games are from novice players to grandmasters and indexes them all to play, practice, learn from and enjoy!
