How would you spend your last week on earth? What would you do if your best friend had one week to live? Take a walk with Jesus and his disciples through the holiest of weeks. Move through the valleys of wrath, betrayal, abandonment, and death. Climb the peaks of a triumphal parade, a sacrificial anointing, and an empty tomb. Experience Jesus humanity and deity as you never have before. The eight days from Palm Sunday to Easter have been unequaled in importance in all of human history. 8 Days of Glory combines biblical scripture, historical context, theological analysis, spiritual insight, and pastoral warmth as Dr. Les Woodson explores the significant meaning of each day. Do not miss this spiritual journey, either individually, in small groups or in Sunday school. Ken M. Howard, Lay Leader at Memorial United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky

One of the North’s greatest generals—the Rock of Chickamauga Most Southerners in the U.S. Army resigned their commissions to join the Confederacy in 1861. But at least one son of a distinguished, slaveholding Virginia family remained loyal to the Union. George H. Thomas fought for the North and secured key victories at Chickamauga and Nashville. Thomas’s wartime experiences transformed him from a slaveholder to a defender of civil rights. Remembered as the “Rock of Chickamauga,” Thomas became one of the most prominent Union generals and was even considered for overall command of the Union Army in Virginia. Yet he has been eclipsed by such names as Grant, Sherman, and Sheridan. Offering vivid accounts of combat, Einolf depicts the fighting from Thomas’s perspective to allow a unique look at the real experience of decision making on the battlefield. He examines the general’s recurring confrontations with the Union high command to make a strong case for Thomas’s integrity and competence, even as he exposes Thomas’s shortcomings and poor decisions. The result is a more balanced, nuanced picture than has previously been available. Probing Thomas’s personal character, Einolf reveals how a son of the South could oppose the views of friends and family. George Thomas: Virginian for the Union offers a fresh appraisal of an important career and lends new insight into the inner conflicts of the Civil War.

"Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy Mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the LORD is coming, for it is at hand: a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness... "For the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; who can endure it?" Joel 2:1-2, 11  Why is most of the world clueless as to what God has on the drawing board for the earth in the years ahead?  How might biblical prophecy unfold?  Just how bad will it get?  Will you be caught unaware? Read Randy and Nancy Moy's companion book titled Covenant Partnership for revelations as to why Israel, Jerusalem, and the Jews are so important to the LORD-and why it is vital for Christians to stand with them in the end-times. This book is for those sons and daughters of the Lord Jesus Christ who have been weeping between the porch and the altar, crying out unto the Lord of glory. There is something stirring inside of you ready to explode. The fire inside of you is burning. You feel like it's time for you to move now! But it seems as if someone has pushed the pause button that's keeping you from your destiny. If you feel like everything that used to work for you has dried up, God has you in a strange place, a place where you are hungry and full at the same time, where all your spiritual senses are being exercised. This book was written to let you know the time of your coming out is at hand. Get ready! Keep pressing, keep praying, keep seeking. This is the price of becoming a Son of Glory. We are living in what the Bible calls the beginning of sorrows: "All these are the beginning of sorrows" (Matthew 24:8). This book is designed to encourage you to "stay planted by the rivers of water" (Psalm 1:3) for your season is at hand. I'm not talking about the rapture. I'm talking about the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in the last days, to glorify his Sons of Glory here on earth, "the manifestation of the Sons of God." Jesus will return to reveal his glory. It will manifest in the life of his sons and daughters. This book is written for those who understand they can't stay in their comfort zone, they have to go places they've never known, for there is a glory realm that has been hidden since the beginning of the church age that is ready to be revealed in these last days.

George Crook written by Paul Magid and has been published by University of Oklahoma Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-07-17 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Renowned for his prominent role in the Apache and Sioux wars, General George Crook (1828–90) was considered by William Tecumseh Sherman to be his greatest Indian-fighting general. Although Crook was feared by Indian opponents on the battlefield, in defeat the tribes found him a true friend and advocate who earned their trust and friendship when he spoke out in their defense against political corruption and greed. Paul Magid’s detailed and engaging narrative focuses on Crook’s early years through the end of the Civil War. Magid begins with Crook’s boyhood on the Ohio frontier and his education at West Point, then recounts his nine years’ military service in California during the height of the Gold Rush. It was in the Far West that Crook acquired the experience and skills essential to his success as an Indian fighter. This is primarily an account of Crook’s dramatic and sometimes controversial role in the Civil War, in which he was involved on three fronts, in West Virginia, Tennessee, and Virginia. Crook saw action during the battle of Antietam and played important roles in two major offensives in the Shenandoah Valley and in the Chattanooga and Appomattox campaigns. His courage, leadership, and tactical skills won him the respect and admiration of his commanding officers, including Generals Grant and Sheridan. He soon rose to the rank of major general and received four brevet promotions for bravery and meritorious service. Along the way, he led both infantry and cavalry, pioneered innovations in guerrilla warfare, conducted raids deep into enemy territory, and endured a kidnapping by Confederate partisans. George Crook offers insight into the influences that later would make this general both a nemesis of the Indian tribes and their ardent advocate, and it illuminates the personality of this most enigmatic and eccentric of army officers.
