What Your Aches And Pains Are Telling You written by Michel Odoul and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-01-09 with Health & Fitness categories.

Reveals the precise correspondences between specific emotional and mental tensions and the illnesses and traumas of the body • Explains how physical complaints--energetic disturbances that lead to ailments or chronic conditions--are your soul speaking to you • Shows how the body part affected as well as which side it is on pinpoints what your soul is trying to tell you and what you need to work through emotionally • Explains the Yin-Yang energetic correspondences of the body: the Yang axis of the shoulders, the Yin axis of the hips, and the Yin-Yang maternal/paternal connections Our body speaks. Physical complaints--allergies, fever, sore throat, inflammation, cysts, backache, migraines, sinus problems, sciatica, dizzy spells, and even cancer--are all signs of deep tensions inside of us are seeking expression. This is why, given the same genetic foundation, one individual develops a specific illness while another remains in good health. Drawing on 20 years of experience and several thousand individual consultations with patients, Michel Odoul shows the “proof” of this lies in the clear correspondences between emotional and mental tensions and specific ailments. The author reveals how every illness or trauma is a signal of incredible precision: The part of the body affected pinpoints what your inner being is trying to tell you and what you need to work through emotionally. Providing a reference grid of body-mind connections, he explains, for example, how skin conditions reflect difficulties with aggression from the outside world and knee problems indicate inflexibility or tension in relationships. He shows not only how each side of the body has specific meanings and connections to emotions, relationships, and family but also how the upper and lower halves of the body have specific connections--together forming four quadrants with unique Yin-Yang balances, where Yin represents emotional issues and Yang represents action/inaction. He also explores the role of the meridians of Chinese medicine in distributing emotional and mental energy throughout the body. Offering keys to decipher what the body is trying to tell us, the author shows that we can learn to see physical ailments not as something caused by chance or fate but as a message from our heart and soul. By releasing the energies and patterns they point to, we can return to a state of health and forward movement on our path through life.

Neuroscientist Dr Yvonne Churcher has problems in the world beyond her lab. One of her students, James, a dangerously attractive anti-science protestor, has set out to challenge her entire philosophy about how the brain works. His friend, Gareth, a brilliant, unstable computer genius, is obsessed with the biochemical basis of memory. When he tries to persuade Yvonne to get involved with a plan to stimulate memory artificially, it sets off a chain of events involving unscrupulous biotech companies, stolen brain-mapping data and a strange brand of eco-terrorism. A Box of Birds is both a pacy literary thriller set in a near-future world of experimental brain research, and a compelling love story between a neuroscientist and an animal rights campaigner. It brilliant dramatizes the clash between two of the predominant philosophical positions of our age: the materialist view that science has all the answers and that 'we' are nothing more than bundles of nerves and chemical reactions, and the Freud-inspired position that underpins the culture of psychotherapy: that the stories we tell about ourselves and our pasts have the capacity to change our future. Does neuroscience really change our understanding of who we are? Or are we all at the mercy of our own need to make coherent stories?

The Expanding Art Of Comics written by Thierry Groensteen and has been published by Univ. Press of Mississippi this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-05 with Literary Criticism categories.

In The Expanding Art of Comics: Ten Modern Masterpieces, prominent scholar Thierry Groensteen offers a distinct perspective on important evolutions in comics since the 1960s through close readings of ten seminal works. He covers over half a century of comics production, sampling a single work from the sixties (Ballad of the Salt Sea by Hugo Pratt), seventies (The Airtight Garage of Jerry Cornelius by Moebius), eighties (Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons), and nineties (Epileptic by David B.). Then this remarkable critic, scholar, and author of The System of Comics and Comics and Narration delves into recent masterpieces, such as Building Stories by Chris Ware. Each of these books created an opening, achieved a breakthrough, offered a new narrative model, or took up an emerging tendency and perfected it. Groensteen recaptures the impact with which these works, each in its own way, broke with what had gone before. He regards comics as an expanding art, not only because groundbreaking works such as these are increasing in number, but also because it is an art that has only gradually become aware of its considerable potential and is unceasingly opening up new expressive terrain.

The Idiots written by Joseph Conrad and has been published by Atlântico Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-12-17 with Literary Collections categories.

The Idiots was Joseph Conrad’s first short story and it was written during his honeymoon (1896). Jean-Piere Bacadou returned from military service to find the family farm run down. He decides to take over from his aged parents… He gets married; his mother dies; and twin boys are born. The parents discover that the boys are retarded. Another son is born who is also retarded. As a reaction, Bacadou converts from a republican to Catholic royalist… The Idiots was published for the first time by The Savoy magazine, in 1897. This magazine was established by rather controversial figures in what at the time was called the “decadent movement”, which embraced the idea of “art for art’s sake”. Oscar Wilde was another contributor. Joseph Conrad (originally Józef Teodor Konrad Nalecz Korzeniowski) was born in the Ukraine in 1857. With a strong passion towards the sea, Conrad served in French and British vessels during eight years. Today Conrad is generally regarded as one of the greatest writers of fiction in English – his third language. The Idiots integrates the collection “Classics of World Literature”, developed by Atlântico Press, a publisher company present in the global editorial market, since 1992.

Courir Les Rues written by Raymond Queneau and has been published by Carcanet Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013 with Poetry categories.

Taxi drivers, street sweepers, a bouquiniste, unsuccessful prostitutes, a menaced bicycle rider, noisy children, an old woman shunted aside in a crowd, and some disgruntled animals at the zoo populate these poems. Unreeling like a series of clips recorded during a stroll through Paris, the book is wickedly funny, but it is also a bittersweet meditation on how "the river of forgetfulness carries away the city." This is the poet's love letter to Paris--a Paris that is always in the process of becoming superannuated. Rachel Galvin's lively, idiomatic version is the first complete translation available in English.
