Esta es una crónica sobre la espeluznante violación de los derechos humanos que sufren los latinos ilegales dentro de una cárcel para extranjeros (denominados aliens) en los EE.UU. ¡Nada menos que en el país que exporta la defensa de los derechos humanos a todo el mundo! Buscando asilo, producto de una persecución política propiciada por el régimen socialista-indigenista de Evo Morales, Alien (el personaje principal del libro) acaba privado de su libertad por más de tres meses en Broward Transitional Center (BTC), muy cerca de Miami, en los EE.UU. Allí, el protagonista emprende un increíble viaje que le permite atestiguar —desde dentro— la realidad de los latinos ilegales encarcelados. En este periplo vive intensamente el abuso y la discriminación sin límites de los que son objeto los hispanos ilegales en unas cárceles (BTC es sólo una de las más de trescientas setenta y cuatro que existen a lo largo y ancho de EE.UU.) que están diseñadas para torturarlos y atormentarlos de manera sistemática. En estos reclusorios se hace todo lo posible para impedir el sueño de los presos (quienes sobreviven como zombis), así como para empantanar su comunicación con el mundo exterior. En ellos es muy fácil caer víctima de una paliza perpetrada por los agentes del ICE. EL AUTOR Ernesto Machicao Argiró ha transitado por diferentes caminos de la vida. Nació un 15 de enero de 1958 en la andina ciudad de La Paz, sede del gobierno de Bolivia. Allí se desenvolvió en la política como diputado nacional, ministro de Comunicación Social y embajador de Bolivia ante la República de Corea.
