A pesquisa apresentada neste livro tem como objetivos conhecer as experiências de professoras de Salas de Leitura com a leitura literária ao longo de sua trajetória pessoal e profissional e analisar as concepções que elas têm sobre seu papel como mediadoras de leitura literária. As questões que nortearam a pesquisa são: Quais as experiências das professoras das Salas de Leitura com a leitura literária ao longo de sua trajetória pessoal e profissional (ou como se constituíram leitoras de literatura)? Quais as concepções de professoras das Salas de Leitura sobre seu papel como mediadoras de leitura literária na escola? A discussão teórica problematiza a formação de professores e a leitura literária a partir de três perspectivas: a leitura literária como experiência (LAROSSA), como conhecimento de si (MANGUEL) e como humanização (CÂNDIDO). Discute-se especificamente a importância da formação destas professoras para atuarem como mediadoras de leitura de textos literários, já que em sua grande maioria elas assumem esta responsabilidade sem terem uma preparação para atuarem nesse espaço. Os resultados, baseados na análise de conteúdo, evidenciam que as experiências das professoras das Salas de Leitura com a leitura literária são marcadas, sobretudo, por referências familiares e escolares.
