It is the 1960s and Professor Jon Andrews is haunted by memories of growing up in an abusive, ultra-religious home. He leaves his teaching job in Montreal to go to a cabin in Iris, Prince Edward Island to write a novel based on his childhood. There he is taken under wing by a local farm family. When he experiences their love and kindness, he begins to see spirituality in a new light. When tragedy strikes the farm family he is thrust into the life of a farmer. He knows nothing about farming but rises to the challenge as the four young sons teach and guide him. Love grows and there is small town gossip and judgmental attitudes and there are serious decisions to be made. In the end, more than one life is changed in astonishing and wonderful ways. In this new world of terrorism and catastrophic events beyond our control, Beautiful Sadness, provides what audiences are craving right now -- an uplifting and inspiring story that gives them a sense that there is still love and hope and goodness in the world. The novel is a fictional, inspirational romance, that captures the idiosyncrasies and historical aspects of Prince Edward Island.

NAMED A BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR BY THE NEW YORKER AND NPR Through the scrim of fading memory, an elderly woman confronts a lifetime of secrets and betrayal, under the mysterious skies of her island home Off the coast of Georgia, near Savannah, generations have been tempted by strange blue lights in the sky near an island called Lyra. At the height of WWII, impressionable young Elle Ranier leaves New York City to forge a new life together on the island with her new husband, Simon. There they will live for decades, raising a family while waging a quixotic campaign to find the source of the mysterious blue offshore light—and the elusive minerals rumored to lurk beneath the surface. Fifty years later, Elle looks back at her life on the mysterious island—and at a secret she herself has guarded for decades. As her memory recedes into the mists of Alzheimer’s disease, her life seems a tangle of questions: How did her husband’s business, now shuttered, survive so long without ever finding the legendary Lyra stones? How did her own life crumble under treatment for depression? And what became of Gabriel—the handsome, raffish other man who came to the island with them and risked everything to follow the lights? Darkly romantic and deeply haunting, The Stars Are Not Yet Bells pulls us into a story of the tantalizing, faithless relationship between ourselves and the lives and souls we leave behind.

** THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER ** THE DEBUT POETRY COLLECTION FROM THE ORIGINAL MUMMY'S BOY, HUSSAIN MANAWER. 'I remember the day I wrote my first ever poem, I was sitting on my bed in the attic and started jotting down lines on this little notepad, little did I know where it would lead me professionally, personally and also psychologically. This is my life's work to this date, all my notes, my favourite pieces that have served me through my darkest nights and carried me through every moment of pain, suffering, anxiety, panic and hardship.' Hussain's debut poetry collection will invite readers on his journey through depression and grief, and out the other side to a better place - there will be joy, hope, tears and laughter - the emotions that make up the fabric of human experience. His words will remind readers, that even in your lowest moments you can find the gold dust, Life is Sad and Beautiful will shift outlooks and stand as a powerful vehicle for growth and change. ABOUT HUSSAIN: Hussain Manawer is a globally acclaimed Poet, Mental Health Advocate and Producer - who was born in Newham and shortly after grew up in Ilford, Essex. I have been writings stories and poems since before I could write. My imagination is my constant companion; it has helped me through my toughest times when I was suffering with mental illness and a loss of self. My hope is that this book of my writings, poems and short stories will help at least one person to know that they are not alone in the silent, yet deathly grips of mental illness. In our culture today having a mental illness is bad, yet no one wants to talk about it. Mental illness can kill, the same as war or cancer, and we talk and hear about them all the time. For years I was silent, never telling anyone how hurt I felt and how much I had grown to hate myself. I thought I was the only one who felt this way and therefore I was broken or wrong. So I know that there are people out there who are needlessly suffering in silence and so I am going to take a step to break the silence and to hopefully begin to start a conversation, or at least make people hear and see what mental illness can do. Mental illness not only affects the afflicted person but it can trickle down to affect family members, work environments and even whole communities. Mental illness is becoming an epidemic in our society and no one is talking about it. I have spent too many years being silent and afraid. If you are reading this and you are suffering, or you know someone who is, you are not alone. I have been there too, and I have held on so that I could share my story and my love of writing and creative expression. Enjoy.

"A woman's guide to achieve self-contentment and inner peace.""A book that will empower women, boost their self-esteem and help fight against negativity and depression.""God created you truly valuable and special. The true beauty in you will eventually unfold. You are, indeed, a beautiful creature and this book will tell you why." "A good read also for men who want to see the beauty of life, which they might not have noticed or just had taken for granted before."Flores Isler has always loved to read which was her motivation to pursue a writing career. She authored more than thirty published romance pocketbooks and few horror/thriller stories under the pseudonym of Kathleen Guiller. She then became an advocate of self-empowerment, especially for women and this became her life purpose, so she shifted to writing inspirational books, which also opened the door for her to be a life coach. Isler describes herself as a simple person, who believes that life is happier if you live simpler. In this book, Isler brings her wisdom to teach people and especially women how to unlock the real sources of empowerment. Once we embrace our flaws and believe in our inner beauty regardless of our outer appearances, we can begin to find the confidence and courage that will help us have high self-esteem and live a happy and contented life. Isler makes the argument that our unique beauty is a gift to the world and can make it a better place to live in if we learn how to unleash the beauty within us. As she writes, "Beauty is a state of the mind, not a state of the body." Isler advises us to use self-acceptance and the belief that we are beautiful creatures, as a tool, to be the best version of ourselves that we all yearn for.
