ABOUT THE BOOK This workbook is a collection of short stories and word games designed to create a bond between a male child and the guardian in his life. The boy will be more receptive to his guardian's opinions and ideas because there will be an exchange, not just someone dictating and him listening. There will be a conversation where he can talk about his feelings and opinions. There is not doubt in my mind that the relationship between the boy and his guardian will be greatly improved by this workbook. His guardian will know him much better and the boy will understand how his guardian expects him to lead his life. This is a unique way to get a boy to express his unique thoughts and opinions, while at the same time he will listen and understand his guardian's opinions and moral values. This workbook will generate true conversations between young boys and their guardians. They are about situations that happen to boys from a male perspective. These are true stories, some of them happened to the author directly, and some happened to friends or other boys he knew while growing up. Having grown up without a father the author wanted to provide a way to bring up sensitive issues to a young boy. This is for anyone caring for a boy; single mother, father, grandmother, aunt, uncle, older sister, brother, cousin, stepfather or good friend. The situations described in these stories have happened to most every male at some time before he reached the age of 25. This workbook is a way to help prepare young boys, for events that will more than likely happen to him in life. As a father, the author knows how difficult it is to bring up certain issues to a child. You want to protect your son and notexpose them to the bad things in life. The truth is, there is no way to keep them away from the unpleasant things in life, and you would only delay the inevitable. They will be exposed to the unspeakable and the only way to help them is to talk about it. If they have

A Book About The Film Monty Python S Life Of Brian written by Darl Larsen and has been published by Rowman & Littlefield this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-02-15 with Performing Arts categories.

As a follow-up to their first true feature film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the comic troupe next decided to tackle a “shadow” version of the Christ story. Shot in the Middle East and produced during Margaret Thatcher’s ascendant years, the film satirized—among other matters—authoritarianism and religious zealotry. Upon its release, Monty Python’s Life of Brian was both a critical and commercial success, and has been since hailed as one of the greatest comedies of all time. But the film also faced backlash from religious groups for its blasphemy, perceived or otherwise. In A Book about the Film Monty Python's Life of Brian: All of the References from Assyrians to Zeffirelli, Darl Larsen identifies and examines the plethora of cultural, historical, and topical allusions in the film. In this resource, Larsen delineates virtually every allusion and reference that appears in the film—from first-century Jerusalem through 1970s Great Britain. Organized chronologically by scene, the entries in this cultural history cover literary and metaphoric allusions, symbolisms, names, peoples, and places, as well as the many social, cultural, and historical elements that populate this film. By closely examining each scene, this book explores the Pythons’ comparisons of the Roman and British Empires and of Pilate and Margaret Thatcher. In addition, Larsen helps to situate Life of Brian in the “Jesus” re-examination of the postwar period, while also taking a close look at the terror groups of first-century Judea and the modern world. A Book about the Film Monty Python's Life of Brian will appeal to scholars of history, film, British culture, and pop culture, as well as to the many fans of this iconic group.

Social Work With Children And Their Families written by Christopher G. Petr and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

An extensively revised version of the first edition, this text focuses on the practical foundational knowledge required to practice social work effectively in the complex and fast-changing world of services to children and their families. The core organizing framework consists of eight pragmatic perspectives: combating adultcentrism, family-centered practice, the strengths perspective, respect for diversity and difference, the least restrictive alternative, ecological perspective, organization and financing, and achieving outcomes. Unlike most texts that focus either on direct practice or on policy, Petr's revised volume integrates current policy-including recent reform efforts-with "best practices." The student thus gains a deep appreciation for how direct social work practice is linked to, and even guided by, contemporary policy initiatives and the values that underscore those initiatives. Two new chapters are devoted specifically to the fields of child welfare and children's mental health, providing an overview of the laws, policies, practices, and terminology pertaining to each setting. The next eight chapters focus on each pragmatic perspective and its relevance to child welfare and children's mental health. The in-depth case studies that comprise the concluding two chapters illustrate how typical client situations can be successfully addressed within the context of the pragmatic perspectives. Packed with case studies, specific practice instruction, chapter summaries, and suggested learning activities, this book prepares students and practitioners to think and act professionally in ways that are consistent with current laws, values, policies, and reform efforts in the field.
