Y Sin embargo es redonda, es el relato de una de las odiseas más magnificas que ha realizado el hombre. Es la recreación de uno de los primeros viajes de los conquistadores del mar. Los viajes que han transcendido en la Historia, de los que han descubierto a la Humanidad el habitáculo donde vive, son el de Colón, el de Vasco de Gama y el de Magallanes. Con relación al viaje de Magallanes, que culmina con la primera vuelta al mundo, se ha tenido que investigar exhaustivamente para dar respuesta a las numerosas preguntas que tal viaje suscita. ¿Cómo gestó Magallanes su empresa? ¿Cómo pudo vencer a hombres y elementos, a los mil obstáculos que se le interpusieron para llevarlo a cabo? ¿Cómo pudieron dar la vuelta al mundo con las frágiles embarcaciones con que salieron, ignorantes de los derroteros, perdidos en lo infinito, continuamente expuestos al peligro, al capricho de las incidencias y a todas las torturas de la escasez? ¿Cómo pudieron superar la espantosa soledad en que se vieron sometidos, el desamparo de saber que nadie les podía ayudar, ni siquiera atestiguar de sus sacrificio?. Y sin embargo es redonda, ha surgido con el propósito de dar una visión serena y veraz de aquellas sociedades hispanas que fueron las que protagonizaron los grandes descubrimientos geográficos. Se describe los ambientes de Lisboa, donde se organizan las expediciones que van a las Indias Orientales, y de Sevilla, de donde se parte a las Occidentales. También se detalla Valladolid, que es donde se establece el nuevo rey Carlos I con su corte de flamencos, en medio de numerosos festejos y bizarrías que se organizan con motivo de su juramento como rey. Y se respira todo un ambiente hostil, preludio de la próxima sublevación comunera. Las imágenes que se describen son numerosas y variadas, ya que da la vuelta al mundo y son muchos los paisajes que se suceden. También aparecen ante los atónitos ojos de los expedicionarios animales y seres humanos nunca observados antes, así como también culturas y costumbres, muchas de ellas hoy extinguidas. Y las incidencias del tiempo las furibundas tempestades-, y las maravillosas puestas de sol precisan de una descripción singular, variada, real y vivida.
