The gamma-ray spectral data-reduction and analysis computer code TPASS is described. This computer code is used to analyze complex Ge(Li) gamma-ray spectra to obtain peak areas corrected for detector efficiencies, from which are determined gamma-ray yields. These yields are compared with an isotope gamma-ray data file to determine the contributions to the observed spectrum from decay of specific radionuclides. A complete FORTRAN listing of the code and a complex test case are given.

An IBM-704 program has been written to increase the precision of the determination of the relative intensities and energies of gamma rays in a complex spectrum observed following neutron capture in neutron resonances. The quantity chi-square is formed for the complex spectrum in as many as ten resonances and minimized simultaneously with respect to all unknown intensities as well as the unknown gamma-ray energies. This simultaneous treatment makes use of the wide Porter-Thomas fluctuations in the intensities of the gamma ray to fix the gamma-ray energies.
