The bible teaches us that we (Christians) will have difficulties or tough times which we will have to deal with. For instance, Jesus said “these things I have spoken unto you, that in me, ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulations” (John 16:33). In this particular scripture, the word “tribulations” has a Greek meaning, which is; pressure; afflictions; burdens, persecution and trouble. So, if you read that same verse and insert the words that define “tribulations” we can plainly see that in this world we will have challenges, or we could simply say, we will have troubles. However, Jesus went on to say in the same breath, “but be of good cheer… I have overcome the world”. In the Amplified bible, it reads, “I have deprived it (the world) of it's power to harm you. Thank God we have the promise of the Lord's help despite any trial or test we may face, yet the fact remains, we will have tough times. Therefore, let's take a look at a couple of other verses to validate what I'm saying:“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” (Psalm 34:19)“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you. (I Peter 4:12)“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers (various or different types) of temptations (trails, test or difficulties); knowing this, that the trying (or proving) of your faith worketh patience”. (James 1:2-3)When we are committed to live by faith, we will undoubtedly encounter tough times. However, it is not the time to faint.
