11 chapters of teaching and training on: The importance of every Christian caring for each other... The role of Pastors and members of a pastoral team...Personal choices you need to take to be effective in pastoral ministry... How to build pastoral ministry into the life of a church... Listening to people... Teaching biblical principles in a one-to-one setting... Leading people towards hope... Flowing in the gifts of the Holy Spirit...Watching over a group of people. We live in a very 'me' focussed world. All too often we live in a 'me' focussed version of Christianity. Where it's all about what God can do for me, how the church can help with my needs, getting my weekly fix of worship experience. It is very easy to make 'me' the most important person in your journey of faith. Yet God is quite clear: 1 John 3:16 'lay down your life for the brothers and sisters'. Caring for others is more important that having my personal needs met. Why?It is the way we serve God.It gives life a godly purpose. It is the way we demonstrate Jesus to the world.Because God has every Christian to care and support each other, He has given us everything we need to equip the church for that. He does this through providing caring ministry in the church and Pastors for the Church. From Ephesians 4:11-12 we see that God has placed Pastors, along with Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists and Teachers, in the church to equip the saints (Christians) for the 'work of the ministry'. The work of ministry, which includes caring for each other, is the responsibility of the saints, the Pastor's responsibility is to equip the saints for that ministry. This training is focussed on equipping people for pastoral ministry. It is suitable for:Every Christian who wants to discover more about their role in caring for others;People involved in providing focussed pastoral ministry in a local church, such as members of pastoral teams or small group leaders; Those leading pastoral ministries, such as Pastors;Teachers and trainers who want a resource to equip people for pastoral ministry.

This project is designed to train the inexperienced staff at Calvary Church in pastoral care ministry. The critical areas in pastoral care are represented in the acronym H.E.L.P. S., (H) Home and Hospital Visitation, (E) Eclectic and Effective Counseling, (L) Lessons in Marriage and Family, (P) Prayer in Caring Ministry, and (S) Support in Grief and Loss. Chapter one introduces Calvary Church's ministry and presents the research's problem, purpose statement, thesis statement, and limitations. Chapter two presents the literature review with the foundations of pastoral care, which supports the immediate need for training. Chapter three outlines the research conducted to determine the knowledge and confidence level of the staff in each aspect of pastoral care ministry. Various research tools were used, including survey questionnaires, personal interviews, and a focus group to design the training program. Chapter four contains the survey responses and data analysis illustrated with graphs and charts. The participants rated each topic before and after the training to determine the effectiveness and identify opportunities for further education. The conclusion in chapter five includes lessons learned on time management, location, and communications. Recommendations for future training are noted to address the staff's specific needs for development in pastoral care ministry.

Caring Pastors Caring People written by Marvin Andrew McMickle and has been published by Living Church this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Religion categories.

With so many broken and hurting people in our congregations and in our communities, how is a church pastor supposed to address so many needs? This second volume in Judson Press¿s new ¿Living Church¿ series explores the nature of pastoral care and invites laity and clergy alike to become partners in this essentially human ministry. Beginning with the traditional core of pastoral care as a critical function of the church pastor, author, professor, and veteran pastor Marvin McMickle expands that core into a second circle of care¿as the pastor equips and empowers church members to partner in caring for one another. Finally, McMickle throws open the doors of the church and challenges pastor, lay leaders, and church members alike to extend their ministries of pastoral care to the local community, through ministries of advocacy, justice, healthcare, education, and service. A richly reflective and utterly practical resource, this volume deepens the church¿s understanding of pastoral care¿and expands that compassionate and priestly ministry in the church and in the world.
