A presente pesquisa discute como os aspectos sociológicos presentes na leitura atuam diante da realidade do leitor, e analisa como a leitura do mundo e a práxis da leitura podem influenciar a apropriação e o processamento da informação, a interpretação e a compreensão de um texto, além de apontar a influência e a importância da práxis e da leitura do mundo como mediadores na formação de leitores críticos e conscientes do texto e da sua realidade. Esse estudo indica que o leitor sem uma leitura do mundo, ou seja, da realidade e das relações que o cercam, ao ler um texto o faz apenas como ato de decodificação de símbolos e/ou sinais, sem interpretá-lo e compreendê-lo aplicado ao seu contexto de vida. A partir da leitura do mundo e do conhecimento da sua realidade, o leitor exerce uma práxis da leitura, ação, reflexão e transformação crítica do texto, com o objetivo de que as informações adquiridas por meio desse processo tenham significado e relação com o seu contexto, resultando em uma melhor compreensão, interpretação e conscientização leitora, visando à transformação do leitor e da leitura.
