O objetivo do estudo foi de averiguar qual a importância da música para o processo de ensino-aprendizagem, na educação infantil. Objetivou-se também identificar a importância da música para a criança, investigar como a música facilita o aprendizado das crianças e planejar e contextualizar o fazer musical, articulando-o às demais áreas do conhecimento. O trabalho de monografia se baseou em pesquisa bibliográfica e foi organizado em dois capítulos. No primeiro capítulo, buscou-se expor alguns aspectos do processo de aprendizado da criança sob a ótica de Vygostky e a teoria de Gardner, com enfoque no que ele denominou “inteligência musical”. O objetivo foi traçar um cenário para contextualizar a discussão sobre como a música pode contribuir para o aprendizado da criança. No segundo capítulo, expõe-se como se efetiva o uso da música na educação infantil, tema do presente estudo.
