Woven throughout hundreds of years, numerous generations, and multiple books of the Bible, is the story of a man named Zadok. He fulfilled multiple prophecies and promises from generations earlier, and left an incredible legacy for generations after. He didn't merely do an isolated heroic thing; he lived heroically, demonstrating a bravery that gave him recognition that few men have ever received. We need men like that. We need to be men like that. "A Man Like Zadok" is more than a bible study or a character sketch. The Bible is full of stories of incredible heroes who are recorded as our examples, for our benefit, and to give us a role in a much bigger story. Zadok's story is all of that. "A Man Like Zadok" is more than just a retelling of the story of a hero. It's a challenge... or maybe a bunch of challenges to: * Young guys to become the kind of men who live with a sense of destiny and purpose, who take appropriate risks, and who live heroically;* Mid-life guys to keep doing heroic things; to live by honor and for glory demonstrated by loyalty to our King;* Older guys to mentor, be, and live a legacy; and to* Parents to and others in positions of influence to create an environment conducive to producing a man like Zadok. Most of all, it's a challenge to you - whatever your age - to pursue God with others who call on Him with a sense of adventure and abandonment. When you do that, you won't find religion; you'll find God. You can become a man like Zadok and step into all you were made for. To do so, you will: * Take risks and be brave in spiritual warfare;* Know it's not all about them and saving your own life;* Embrace honor, valor, and faith in the prophetic word;* Value vision, the next generation, and posterity;* Have a passion to live for, to sacrifice for, to save yourself for, to die for; and* Live for a mission rather than just being a good guy who goes to church. You may not be as safe that way, but you won't be as bored. You can live a life where you thrive and walk in your identity and inheritance as a son of God. You can also waste your life trying to find fulfillment in the things of the world. You were meant for so much more. Be a man like Zadok.

Sons of Zadok—The Prequel to the Remnant Rescue Series is the story of a fictional brotherhood of Israelites (male descendants of Kohath from the tribe of Levi) who have sworn to guard the sacred Ark of the Covenant with their lives. In 944 B.C., Zadok, the High Priest of Israel, commissions loyal followers to build an intricate mechanism deep under King Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem to protect the Ark from harm. They fulfilled their sacred duty for over 400 years, during which time civil wars, ungodly kings, corrupt priests, national apostasy, and invasions from Syria, Assyria, and Egypt destroy the nation’s long history of faithfulness to their One True God. The Ark of the Covenant will remain hidden until Israel repents and turns back to the LORD. In 586 B.C., a massive Babylonian army is poised at Jerusalem’s gates intent on leveling the fortress-city and King Solomon’s Temple to their foundations. With no salvation in sight, the last Kohathites remove the Ark from its hiding place and carry it to a distant land for safekeeping. It will remain there until the Temple is rebuilt, Israelites regather from exile, and Messiah comes to establish His Kingdom. Sons of Zadok is the fictional background to Remnant Rescue—The Tapez Scroll in the Remnant Rescue series which is a modern-day thriller trilogy that takes place in a future seven-year period called the Tribulation, during which time God pours out His divine judgment on planet Earth and Satan wreaks havoc using the Antichrist whom the world knows as Constantine, Prince of Rome. The Antichrist demands that every human being on the planet worship him and his image in a rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem. Anticipating the coming holocaust that the Bible calls the Great Tribulation, or the Time of Jacob’s Trouble, a brave group of Christians dare to risk their lives to rescue a remnant of Jews who look forward to their coming Messiah.

This unique study is the first systematic examination to be undertaken of the high priesthood in ancient Israel, from the earliest local chief priests in the pre-monarchic period down to the Hasmonaean priest-kings in the first century BCE. Dr Rooke argues that, contrary to received scholarly opinion, the high priesthood was fundamentally a religious office which in and of itself bestowed no civil responsibilities upon its holders, and that not until the time of the Maccabean revolt does the high priest appear as the sole figure of leadership for the nation. However, even the Maccabean / Hasmonaean high priesthood was effectively a reversion to the monarchic model of sacral kingship which had existed several centuries earlier in the pre-exilic period, rather than being an extension of the powers of the high priesthood itself. The idea that high priesthood per se bestowed the power to rule should therefore be reconsidered.

A great deal of biblical scholarship is written for academics and fails to edify readers or strengthen their Christian ministry. Yet, Christians need to be nourished by the word of God so they can mature in faith and righteousness. Filling this gap, The Branch Exposition of the Bible is a resource for preachers, scholars and ordinary Christians alike, to help open God’s word and shed its light into life, ministry and teaching. Inspired by the words of the great reformer Martin Luther about shaking every branch of Scripture, and with experience in ministering across Africa, India and the West, Michael A. Eaton helps us understand the meaning of the Bible and taste its fruit. Together with the New Testament volume, this exposition of the Old Testament accessibly engages with the biblical languages, gives application for our lives and leads us through each book of the Old Testament so that we can meet the resurrected Jesus Christ in the pages of Scripture.
